Bush wants greater success

2theadvocate.com | Featured Saints Stories | Bush wants greater success — Baton Rouge, LA

“Now I’ve got to come and have an equal or better year,” Bush said. “I’ve got to get the crowd chanting MVP.”

It’s hard to fathom the statistics that would be required for Bush to have the NFL equivalent of Paul’s record-breaking season, but it’s clear that the Saints’ multi-purpose back, who will enter his third season in the fall just as Paul did at the start of this season, is looking for a breakout season.

After being the second player selected in the 2006 season, he had a modest rookie season and the only major difference in his sophomore season was that he missed the last four games because of a knee injury.

Re: Bush wants greater success

everyone talks about how reggie might be a bust n all this but man.. he is only 23 years old! 23! he is still a kid who has gotten all of the fame at such a young age.. it seems like everyone keeps asking these kids to just come in and be stars and the expectations are just unreal..

that being said.. i think reggie will have an awesome year this year.. 3 years in the system.. finally healthy and we will have some continuity on offense from the guys... we only lost 1 player on offense.. this will be a good year all around

I don't think anyone calls him a bust. Hell I don't think he is but he isn't the savior of this francise either. I think people had all these great expectations of him but I think he is right where he is suppose to be.

Re: Bush wants greater success

I have heard guys complain about getting a guy that is 27, 28, 29. That's very young in age.

I don't want anyone to say I am comparing Reggie to Ryan Leaf....but Leaf had 3 years to prove he couldn't be an NFL QB. I don't see why it is such a strech to think that "Hey, maybe Reggie just isn't cut out to be an NFL running back." Thousands of guys who were great in high school couldn't cut it in college. Just like thousands of guys who were great in college couldn't cut it in the NFL.

I don't know how else to say it. I TRULY WANT REGGIE TO BE A HOF'er!!! However, if he doesn't produce this year, how much longer will we say, "Awe, he's just 24, 25, 26, 27..... before we get someone who will fill Deuces' shoes?

It's not just Reggie I am referring to.. it's all of them. We have a very good team, with holes here and there. I feel this core group of people can win a SuperBowl. They just need the people to perform that are suppose to perform.

That's all I'm saying. I just want what is best for the team.

"We are number one. All others are number two, or lower."

Great Point Euph.

Reggie was built up to be the savior of this team. We all (and I don't know many who didn't) think Reggie would be our Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, Barry Sanders. Take us to a SuperBowl victory; carrying the entire team on his shoulders.

So much was put on this kid, by the media and by us as fans that he, more than likely, will not accomplish the goals that have been set for him... by "us".

Reggie Bush is a skilled player who sales jerseys -not a football player.
