Word is he could be with Tampa or the Vikes.We should all hope that he don't go to Tampa because we don't have anybody on our O-line that can block him! I would have loved for us to have made a run for him.

Chiefs in talks to trade Allen

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs are in discussions with several teams about trading defensive end Jared Allen, who led the NFL in sacks last season.

Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson issued a statement Thursday confirming the team has discussed Allen with a few teams interested in acquiring the Chiefs' designated franchise player.

The Chiefs and Allen have been unable to work out a contract for almost a year.

Allen, a 2008 Pro Bowl starter, had 15 1/2 sacks last season despite being suspended the first two games because of multiple DUI convictions.

Though the franchise tag allows Allen to talk with other teams, any club attempting to sign him would have to compensate the Chiefs with two first-round draft picks.

Great player (15 1/2 sacks)... as long as he's not posing for mug shots. He's only one incident from serving a season (or longer) ban. Odds are not in his favor.

Is Atlanta's FO that dumb or crazy???

What Atlanta can afford the move. It is no worse than Abraham. LOL
he never makes a season. Get allen and dump John and the contracts almost swap out.

I am trying to figure out how this helps us. If KC loses Allen, chances are they take Gholston, so maybe Ellis drops a slot or two.

Unfortunately, whoever gets by NE won't get by Cincy, so we are basically in the same spot.

... I wouldn't call him a "great player". Sacks are nice, but there's more to playing DE than just sacks, and surely he's not worth 2 1st rounders.
