Lightbulb I DON'T think we're going to get Dorsey ...

I simply think right now the asking price is just going to be too much to move up to 2 or 3. The best scenario we can hope for is to move up to perhaps 5 or 7 and try to get Ellis, or, remain at 10 and get the best corner available. One of the other things that I've noticed from posts here and elsewhere on the web is NO ONE is talking about drafting a kick returner. I truly would love to get Eddie Royal or Dexter Jackson in the third or fifth round depending on who's available when. Either could replace Devery Henderson if he continues to be too inconsistent.

Re: I DON'T think we're going to get Dorsey ...

considering that Eddie Royal is a 2nd rounder and Dexter Jackson is an early-mid 2nd rounder I don't see that happening.

Leodis McKelvin IS a kick returner, and he's a guy who's on our radar. Cromartie can return kicks, too. Reggie is going to return punts this season methinks, too.

also, yeah, we'd have to straight up trade to #2 to get Dorsey. while part of me doesn't think we'll get it down, another part of me says:

to get Ellis: our 10th and 40th for the Chiefs' (likely trade partner for Ellis) 5th and...105th.

to get Dorsey: our 10th, 40th, 146th and a pick next year probably for the #2.

I'd rather go all in and get Dorsey, but thats just me.

Agreed 2 would require to many picks we need to come up with 1300pts. #1 next year has to involved and or a player and additional picks.
Rams take Dorsey or Long
Atlanta trade with us? long shot. Atlanta will take either Dorsey or Long left overs.

Now at 4 or 5 we could have a nice chance. But that is were the bottom drops out of the talent pool. Unless say for some reason Chris Long drops out of the top 3. Ellis and Gholston are good players but have benifited from a weak draft in round 1. The risk is not that great but the salaries will be.

McFadden I am writing off. Not a Sean type of player off the field. But Oakland does not care about that and besides they have already dumped a ton of cash into the DL.

KC will stand pat and take on of the two. They do not need the picks now.Which one? either they need all the help they can get on the DL.

Jets would love to have Gholston or McFadden. So if Ellis falls here, baring the Jets trading up we have a shot at Ellis. If KC trades down they will take him.

So that leaves who ever falls to 7/8 McKelvin, Ryan, Rivers, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, and Albert.

I say we have a shot at Ellis at 6. Thats the best deal for us without breaking the bank. 300 pts in trade value. Thats or second round pick. We would get a pick in exchange in the third probably to make it work out numbers wise. But the Jets do not have a third. Maybe both of there 4ths.
Sorry not worth it. We would be busy on day 2 though.

Re: I DON'T think we're going to get Dorsey ...

Well i dont think it's the cost as much as it is the team....The Rams allowed the most points in the NFL last season and i don't think they will pass on the best defensive player in the draft.Oh by the way....a coach by the name of Haslett will have Dorsey before he lets the Saints get him. As far as hoping to get him with the 3rd pick if the Rams do pass on him,i'm not sure the Falcons who are in the same division would care to see Dorsey pounding there QB twice a year either.

Great point Hagan and now that I'm done thinking about all the other possibilities in round one - I'm going back to my original pick.

ORGERON = ELLIS

That's it. Plain and simple. Dorsey is out of reach and Rivers could still be ours, but Orgeron knows more about Ellis and covets him in the Black and Gold.

If we were to trade up, I think Ellis would be the pick also.

you're wrong on this, Kansas City has no reason to stay at 5 lol. they need a o linemen, they don't get good enough value at #5. if they swap with us and grab an o linemen at #10 it fits better for them and the get even more picks to rebuild with.

LOL you telling me KC DL is all set? I see any defensive player as an up grade to what they have. So you are going to have fork over a premium price for the pick. I see them packaging up 19 and 3rd (now that they have 3) and moving up in round 1. Think Saints and the Bills as possible targets. They are the only teams outside the top ten not to have OL high on the needs list. Then going OL again in the 2nd.
