(WWL) interviewed Mickey Loomis:

Rookie Mini-Camp (...had 63 guys there). Said that you need a lot of "camp bodies" in order to have enough to work against others.

Asked if the "diamond in the rough" like Pierre Thomas last year would be found. Commented that Mendenhall was actually PT's backup in '06.

Spoke about the UDFA period... said that you have to do your homework in order to know who to target to have in your rookie mini camp. Said that they also got a few guys off the street (...but not many).

rookie mini camp:
the draft rookies were in great shape (physically)) they came in
"coachable" and were ready to get with the program with little trouble

Sean Alexander: Wanted to "kick the tires" on his situation. Gave him a physical; everything OK... no decision made yet.

UDFA's already signed. Goal for drafted players is to get draft choices signed before regular camp. Said that having the #1 overall (NFL) pick already signed is actually going to make it easier for other teams to sign their draft choices.
