Falcons Sign Aaron Stecker
 

The Atlanta Falcons, apparently concerned about injuries to running back Jerious Norwood and fullback Ovie Mughelli, will sign veteran running back Aaron Stecker this afternoon, a league source said.

Stecker, 33, has spent his entire career in the NFC South, doing stints with Tampa Bay and New Orleans, and carried a career-high 114 times for the Saints in 2007. Stecker could fill a backup role behind Michael Turner in Atlanta and he also has return abilities and can fill in for Norwood in that area.

Stecker's presence also will allow backup running back Jason Snelling to move to fullback if Mughelli is out for an extended period.


Always like that dude, but I won't shad a tear when he gets mashed by our line.

Yeah, I always liked him too. He was always a smart player and a solid contributor. He can't be excited to sign just before we play the Falcons...

I'm not scared of this guy, and I will tell you why. If he was a game breaker, and a threat, Payton would have never let him go. I was a huge Duece fan, and didn't like the fact that he didn't really get a chance last year, but we are almost eight weeks into the season, and he still isn't signed by any team. That tells me, that I was wrong. I trust Paytons judgement. Now if the Falcs had signed Duece? I would have been worried. But not really.

He always seemed to be a hard worker, but there is a reason he isn't here any longer. I want to see us light the scoreboard up on this one.

Oh great he's going to tell them we have a QB that wears #9, that we pass a log and really good at it as well as running the ball, we are doomed! LOL.

Yeah at this point there is so much film on us that its seriously pointless. Its even to the point you can't even snag an ex QB to read the other teams signals with the helmet mics now.

Hmmm,wonder if the Falcons are gonna debrief him about some of the idiocyncracies offense. Not sure how relevant it'll be this year.

Stecker was OK but I never forgave him for that easy TD pass he dropped in the Eagles playoff game. Sure we won the game anyway, but it was plays like that which always made me think Steck was expendable.

I wish him well and thank him for his service here, but I'm not worried about it in any way, shape, or form.
