Safety Darren Sharper added to New Orleans Saints' injury list

Saints safety Darren Sharper missed Wednesday's practice with a knee injury. Saints Coach Sean Payton said the injury occurred during Sunday's game against Carolina, but he declined to offer any specific details.
He did say he's optimistic that Sharper, cornerback Jabari Greer (groin) and center Jonathan Goodwin (ankle) will recover quickly from their injuries, though.
He also said he's cautiously optimistic that defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis (knee) might be able to get back on the practice field this week, though Ellis did not practice Wednesday. Strongside linebacker Scott Fujita (calf) did return to practice on a limited basis Wednesday.
Also, receiver Marques Colston and offensive tackle Zach Strief missed Wednesday with the flu (regular, not swine). Payton hopes they'll return Thursday.

I had a good feeling about things when the Saints acquired Sharper. Finally things were falling our way.

I was baffled by 2 things, though. #1...why would the Vikings let this guy go, and #2...why didn't the Giants sell the farm to get this guy on their sideline so Eli will know there won't be no pick six's from Sharper as long as he was on their sideline. :)

This may be okay for this week ... But if this is long term --- OUCH! This will hurt ...

I'm sure The Vikes had to deal with his age and salary. As we see Sharper is
in on almost every play really brings stability to the secondary. If he can't go this week thank God we have The Rams.

You may have noticed him pull up a bit while chasing Carolina's running back during the long touchdown run so I say right knee. Hopefully it is an over extension thing and not too serious. We all know Harper can not catch so do the Saints give the rookie a start against the Rams? Sooner or later they are going to have to test MJ.

Good question indeed. Usama is listed as the backup FS on the depth chart and with MJ being Greer's backup I would guess that Usama would get the start at FS.

But hopefullly #42 is back there.

If Sharper is nicked, either deactivate him for the next 2 games, or just have him in there on 3rd and longs. Much rather have him in December and January than the next 2 weeks.

Rest Sharper, Fujita, Ellis, and Greer. Put Young at FS and Jenkins at CB and see what they have. Hand the ball off to to Thomas/Bell/Bush 45 times and come back to the Big Easy 9-0. WHO DAT!

I have a feeling that this injury to Sharper is not too serious. I guess this is probably the best week for us to rest some of our starters.
