Former coach/analyst John Madden says New Orleans Saints have the best O-Line

If the latest New Orleans Saints accolade shared Thursday afternoon on ESPN radio's Scott Van Pelt show had been a musing of one of the dozens of muddled talking heads in the sports world, it would have been just another gentle ripple through Who Dat Nation.
But it was Madden speaking about New Oreans' 8-and-O team, as in John, a tsunami in the National Football League, a former offensive and defensive player in college, a stellar head coach with the Oakland Raiders, a revered NFL color commentator -- and member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
After Van Pelt and Madden began a conversation about the "most valuable protectors award," Madden declared: "If we had this contest right now at the half-way point (of the season), and you would say who is the best offensive line in football so far, to me, it's the New Orleans Saints."
Drew Brees' protectors -- Jermon Bushrod, Jonathan Goodwin, Jahri Evans, Jamar Nesbit and Jon Stinchcomb -- take note.
Listen to the entire interview. It begins 23 minutes into a 33-minute segment also featuring the coach of Villanova and Van Pelt's notions about the Dallas Cowboys.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but, Drew Brees has spent a lot of time on his back this season. I think we were a better Oline last year. However, this year we are opening holes that weren't there last year and I don't think it because Bushrod is better than Brown.

I think that it's because of Brown being out that Drew is getting hit more often and I think that Nicks is the reason that the running game has gotten better.

The majority of Brees sacks have come from behind. Stinchcomb and Bushrod have their respective ends on lock and Brees is holding the ball. I understand hes trying to make a play but he holds the ball a little to long not as long as Green Bays QB but Brees holds it to long. Ex. When he fumbled the ball in the Carolina game, the receivers were covered and Drew steps up in the pocket as he steps up no one is open, Drew should have ran and slide for some yardage instead hes hit from behind but he fumbled and now down 14-0. As far as Bushrod and Brown are concerned IMO Brown should go back to right tackle and Stinchcomb and Strief will be excellent back ups. Now Nicks is a road grader and decent in pass protection.

But Drew Dat will fix Dat and we be back like Dat - yeah!!
