Market for Bush opens in 2010

Reggie Bush | Saints | Interested: Ravens?, Packers?, Chiefs?, Seahawks?, Titans?, Redskins?

http://a.espncdn.com/i/headshots/nfl...rs/65/9588.jpgWith Reggie Bush set to carry a salary cap number in the $8 million range for 2010, the New Orleans Saints will be forced to make a tough decision this upcoming offseason: keep the occasional game-breaker for that high cost or cut him loose to fend for himself on the open market.
While we don't yet know what the Saints will do, we can begin to hypothesize a bit on where he might wind up if he were to be cut. Amongst the league's bottom-feeders in punt returns -- one area that Bush can help, given his explosive capabilities that netted him 270 yards and three TDs on 20 returns in 2008 -- we see the Washington Redskins, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs, all of whom may be looking for a new running back as well. In addition, Bush might get some love from the Tennessee Titans -- who have the league's top rusher in Chris Johnson but are still searching for an answer in the return game -- and the Baltimore Ravens, who could make use of Bush's skills as a receiver given their lack of weaponry in the WR corps.
All this said, with a salary cap possibly not in play for 2010, the Saints might just hang onto Bush after all.

Bush would be valued commodity
"Here's the question you have to ask: If the Saints do not want to carry that number, how much would Reggie Bush be worth to some team on the open market? And I would say, quite a bit. Maybe not $8 million, but certainly a hefty number in this day and age. Some offenses could make great use of him. Going to be an interesting situation, especially if the Saints go deep into the playoffs."

He negotiates.

Man, haven't even made the playoffs yet and other teams are ready to raid our roster... LOL. My bet is Bush understands that he is in a great situation for his talents and would do a contract extension with loads of incentives.

WTF do half those teams want with Reggie, or would Reggie want with them? I can guarantee he has no interest in playing for losers like the Chiefs, not when we're 9-0 and making a run this year.
The Redskins? That's where overpaid players like Randle El go to die. The Seahawks? Their QB is one hit away from retirement and a string of 4-12 seasons...no thanks. Packers? Maybe, but the idea of Reggie playing in the frozen turndra after spending his career on the warm west coast and the comfort of the dome doesn't seem like a huge likelihood. The Titans? I can't see Reggie taking the back seat to VY and Chris Johnson. He has is own special place here, even amongst our superstars like Drew.

I think he stays put and renegotiates if need be.

I expect better thoughts from Schefter...but he's a news-breaker, not a thoughtful writer.

In addition, assuming 2010 is an uncapped year, which looks very likely, who the heck cares what Reggie's cap number is? As long as the stadium is sold out, and I've been on the season ticket waiting list since 2007, the club is making money and Benson may just not care too much as long as his guy is producing.

And on the Ravens, they already have a guy a lot like Reggie - his name is Ray Rice.

I think we should re-negotiate with him after this year. If not, I say he goes to a West Coast team.

In an uncapped year, Im sure Al Davis and the Raiders would give him 50 million a year, lol

You are missing the point... Bush becomes expendable.

I wish he would stay and become the Saints greatest running back ever.
