The New Orleans Saints have released 15 players, waived/injured two players and placed safety Mel Mitchell on injured reserve, General Manager Mickey Loomis said.

The Saints must trim their roster to comply with the NFL's mandate that all clubs have a maximum of 53 players on their roster by 3 p.m. CT today.

The 15 players released includes FB Jeremy Allen, DT Kendrick Allen, WR Talman Gardner, G Peter Heyer, WR Kareem Kelly, G Scot Osborne, G Melvin Paige, DE John Schlecht, CB B.J. Tucker, C Terence Wagner, DE Greg White, QB Tory Woodbury, RB Ki-Jana Carter, T Scott Sanderson, TE David Sloan.

The Saints also waived/injured DT Jovon Bush and QB Chris Finlen.

The roster currently stands at 53 players.

Well I am a bit suprised by the Carter Cut. There obviously must be something in the works a pick up or a trade for this to make any sense. We will need more than just Fenderson behind Deuce, wonder who they have in there sights?

They have been inquiring about Robert Edward and I see he was cut by the Dolphins.

Yup his name along with Morris of the Bills and Ladell Betis and Lamar Smith were the names I heard the most. It just seemed Carter played well enough to get a shot maybe over Fenderson, hard to tell in the limited action he saw ,but he maid the most of what little he got.

I\'ll bet we have our sights on 2 RB\'s. We kept all those DB\'s because of Mitchell\'s injury.
If he doesn\'t get hurt we cut Harper and Brown. If we sign 2 RB\'s, Fenderson is gone.

4 TE\'s cost Kelly/Gardner a spot. We likely sign at least one if not both to the PS.
I fear somebody will claim Kelly or Gardner. Hopefully we can sneak them through un-noticed, but I doubt it.

I also think we kept 4 TE\'s to force some team (Redskins, 49ers\'s??) into a trade. They probably expected Williams/Hilton to be cut.

Sounds good to me Tweeky I\'ve never been that impressed with Fenderson. He\'s not awful but hell never be able to carry the load if Deuce goes down.
