David Thomas Fullback
 

Watching the game again.
I am impressed with David Thomas on many levels.
His routes and great hands are obvious.
But his lead blocks when he motions then retreats into the backfield and bounces a few times then explodes forward.
You can hear the pop EVERY time he hits someone!
Pierre and Bell cut back into a huge hole every time.
I think Payton has found something here.

Man-Crush time... When Thomas succeeds, Shockey is the first to greet him with a fist bump and a huge smile.
No sulking because he is the star and the back-up has his number called.
Anyone who thinks Shockey is not a team guy is blind!

This is a true TEAM we are watching folks.

Almost every player on this team has a score to settle and something to prove. Whether it be with a former team, former coach, negative media, whatever... I think these guys have have something to prove this year.

I have always liked TE-sized FB's. They can really block, run well for their size, and are big targets in the passing game. Never did like a short FB that just blocks.

I want to see the ball handed off to Thomas before the season is over, but that may not happen. Eckel is getting up to speed and playing more. He's almost TE-sized himself!

I hope he gets o go off on the Pats. David has been a great plus for the Saints.

I can't say enough about David Thomas. We gave up virtually nothing for him. Very impressed with him thus far.

Agree liking how he came back after a couple of fumbles a few weeks back.

eckel is a bit more of a running fullback than a blocking fullback

like ive said before....RB is not as similar to FB as TE is

TEs and fullbacks are almost the exact same position except they line up at different spots on the field

i didnt get to watch thomas play fullback but its nice to see we have some quality depth at that position even if it isnt coming from a true fullback

Thomas has impressed me when he's in the game and it looks like Eckel could fit in nicely in Payton's system. Tight end and fullback both block heavily in this offense. Also, I really like to see us line up in a two tight end set and it's been sffective.
