Patriots list 21 players on injury report

New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn't want to say anything about the head injury suffered by rookie left tackle Sebastian Vollmer.

But the Patriots are saying plenty on their official injury report, putting a whopping 21 players on the list.

Vollmer is one of 17 Patriots listed as questionable for Monday night's game against the New Orleans Saints. The Patriots' offensive line is well represented on the injury report, with tackle Nick Kaczur (ankle), center Dan Koppen (knee), tackle Matt Light (knee) and guard Stephen Neal (head) all listed as questionable as well.

Tom Brady is in his customary spot on the injury report, listed as probable with a right shoulder injury. The only player ruled out is running back Fred Taylor.

The Saints listed nine players on their injury report, including running back Reggie Bush and linebacker Jonathan Vilma, both questionable with knee injuries.

Bush returns to practice for Saints

Posted by Mike Florio on November 26, 2009 4:12 PM ET
As the Saints prepare to put their 10-0 record on the line against the Patriots on Monday night, running back Reggie Bush has returned to practice after missing a week of action due to a knee injury.

Bush was a limited participant in practice on Thursday.

Also practicing on a limited basis were cornerback Randall Gay (hamstring), center Jonathan Goodwin (ankle), cornerback Jabari Greer (groin), defensive end Bobby McCray (knee/back), receiver Lance Moore (ankle), and linebacker Jon Vilma (knee).

The only Saints player who didn't practice at all was cornerback Tracy Porter, who has a knee injury.

Off the injury report is safety Darren Sharper, who missed a game less than two weeks ago due to a problem with his knee.

Re: Vilma with a knee injury?

According to ESPN:

Vilma (knee) was limited in practice again on Saturday and is officially listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Patriots, the Saints' official site reports.

Re: Vilma with a knee injury?

Have to wait and see on this one, he was held to light practice most of the week so there might be some truth to the story or Sean just jacking with the Patriots so they don't know who will be out there. I thought everyone but Porter practiced Friday

Yea... did you see the Pats injury report? I'm surprised they can even field a team.

My post from another thread:

Don't let volume of the Patriots injury report fool you at all. A few seasons ago the Patriots were told by the NFL that their injury reports had to be more specific. The following week, for a game against the Colts, not only did the number of players on the injury report change, but it increased to the point where almost 1/2 the team was listed. The Colts answered back by including 1/2 of their team on their injury report. Some of us here in NE take the injury report and never get excited. We just wait until game time. We believe that most of the 'questionable' and 'probable' players will be in uniform and will play in the game. If anyone remembers, Tom Brady was on the injury report for about 4 seasons, listed almost every week as "probable" Right Shoulder, and guess what, that's where he is now.

I don't know how 'legitimate' the NO injury report is, but if it is anything like the Patriots injury report, we will see most, if not all of the best players on both teams playing Monday night.
