Fighting off panic in Minnesota

Quote:

“I let my temper get the best of me. Next play, instead of thinking within the moment, I was kind of thinking outside the box and not thinking, period. It wasn’t like I was surprised by the coverage. … I just didn’t make good decisions, from my end.”
Favre, in fact, freely admitted this week that he succumbed to “a sense that if we didn’t score, we definitely were going to lose.”

Favre and most of his teammates played in an unhealthy frenetic style that only perpetuated mistakes and elevated tension. Even after 19 NFL seasons, Favre said that reaction iswhat I have to fight against.”

This article was "end of the world" stuff. Kind of premature but I loved some of the depressing Favre quotes. You will never hear those words coming from Brees.

I'm sure the Saints felt the same way in more than one game this season.

Yep. Great teams win at all costs. Sometimes they get very lucky. Patriots did it for years. So did the 49ers in the 80's, the Cowboys in the early 90's and so on. Look at the Steelers - how many games have they lost on last minute drives and such this year.

Drew Brees is right, sometimes the breaks have to fall in your favor.

IceShack .. .how was the Skins game in person? Did they look panicky when we tied the game? How was the drive down from Alaska?
