some of you guys remind me of the fan, (randy quaid) in the movie, major league, i believe it was 2...........whining, whining, whining....................all the time they were winning........if the saints can repeat and jump off to a 7-2 start we can make the playoffs. we shoulda made em last yr........i have my doubts about brooks, but we'll see. the offense is in tack and should at least repeat with a bombing performance.....i look for the saints to jump on top against seattle and then go back and forth till they put em away. i still believe we have the best chance this yr to go further than any other yr.....da dog may be well enough to predict next weeks game barring injuries..........defense wise, hell, we don't look that bad.........if they can jell, look for a fiesty bunch to make mistakes, but also turn some heads......we can do it......i believe......... for those of you looking at injuries.......look around the league.......every team, i repeat, every team has injuries............. we are not standing bad compared to some of them......... i stand by my prediction of saints 34, seahawks 20................say what you will, you always do.......smitty

ssmitty, I sho hope you\'re right. But when you look at it head on, an injury or two will kill us. I really don\'t mean to be negative but damn. If your aunt had b_lls , she\'d be your uncle too. I hope this bunch has the best year in Saints history. It\'s just hard to see it happening with no depth.

I\'ve looked at the depth chart of some other teams and the Saints depth chart looks typical of most. Would be nice to have more depth but .......

why do most of you think we gonna roll over and play dead with injuries? we might as well cancel the season for all nfl football.........here\'s an interesting fact......while the bucs had the #1 defense last yr, they had the lowest ranked offense to win a championship in the superbowl era, 24th...............smitty

Smitty -- I can\'t understand either. I think it all comes down to some people believe the Saints are a team on the rise and some believe they are a team on the decline. I believe they are a team on the rise. Now, I have been given several reasons by some fans as to why they believe the Saints are a team on the decline. However, they have given me no solid reasons as to why the Saints don\'t have a realistic chance at getting to the playoffs.

Some say the defense has not improved. To which I point out that we have improved with players like, Johnathan Sullivan, Derrick Rodgers, Tebucky Jones. Also I tell them that Grady looks much better this year and Kenny Smith is much improved. I tell them that we have Dale Carter for the whole year this time.

It really makes no difference what anyone tells them. They had their mind made up long before this season started. Just the fact they aren\'t willing to let them play one game before they write them off as dead proves that.

I love how 8-8 makes me the world\'s biggest pessimist but 9-7 makes me OK in Billyland and 10-6 makes me realistic, while it would take 13-3 or 14-2 to make me an optimist.

Billy you keep talking about all of your \"facts,\" but I\'m not sure you really understand what that word means anymore. Fact: the Saints signed Tebucky Jones this offseason. SPECULATION: they are better b/c of it. Saying that the defense got better is no more accurate as saying it got worse RIGHT NOW. You have no idea what is going to happen. You BELIEVE, based on those moves, that the team will get better. Much better. Most of us believe that there will be SOME progress in the right direction, but not enough to make a huge impact.

I\'m glad you\'re optimistic Billy. Congratulations. But that doesn\'t make you any more a fan than the rest of us. It doesn\'t make you any more right, so stop being so righteous. What I\'ve noticed is that the long-time members of this board that I respect regardless of many many disagreements are all cautiously hopeful at best. Most either won\'t make a prediction b/c there are still too many questions, or are somewhere in the 9-7 or 10-6 range. I\'m talking about Pak, Joe, Gator, BnB, Lumm0x, subguy, (ssmitty\'s out b/c the dog is sick), and even SAINTFAN. Additionally, I haven\'t seen one professional analyst, bookie, commentator, or any other person associated with football or odds predict better than 9-7 outside of the coaching staff.

Let\'s get a few things straight OK? You\'re not a bigger fan than anyone on this board. We all know the FACTS, and what you\'re PREDICTING is as SPECULATIVE as what I am predicting. Compared to what I\'ve seen, you are as much or more optimistic as you feel I am pessimistic. I\'m predicting 8-8, one game off of what seems to be the average. You\'re still at what, 12-4? Congratulations for being the most blindly optimistic Saints fan in the world. Keep watching for a few more years, that\'ll change... ;)

I never said it was a fact that the Saints were going to be better. What I said was that if you look at the team this year that it should be improved. You can\'t dispute that. All you can is say they are going to be worse. There is no reason in the world to think that. NONE!!!!

Before you start preaching to me about how you interact with other memebers -- Do you think I care? If you do you\'re WRONG!! I could care less if you have \'em over for dinner every night and drive \'em home afterwards.

You stated you\'re a pessimistic person because you don\'t like to get your hopes up because it hurts too bad when you get disappointed. Well, I prefer to be optimistic and just handle the disappointments when and IF they happen. It makes for a more enjoyable life..... ;)

2. Tebucky, Smith, Howard, and Grant get hurt - defense falls apart, Saints are a worse team
3. Deuce gets hurt
4. Every offensive starter dies in a bizarre incident in which lions somehow get on the practice field and eat the starters...

There are just a few reasons why the team could be worse. Want more?

See, you still don\'t understand the problem here Billy. We\'re looking at the same set of facts and I\'ve given reasons for why they could be worse or could be better, and finally decided that they\'ll be about the same. You look at those facts and say \"they\'ll be great!\" Your judgement, right now, is no better than mine.

Let me ask you this? How many times have you seen the \"experts\" claiming that the Saints will be as good as you think they will? NONE is the right answer for that question billy, not your last one.
