Anybody else about ready to pack it in?

I've been a Saints fan for most of my 30 years on this earth but I think I'm just about done. I was stupid enough to get my hopes up again, but it's becoming more and more clear to me this is just the latest chapter in a long, long, LONG line of disappointments.

Call it a curse, destiny, fate, whatever you want. But nothing has ever changed, and nothing ever will.

I'm not mad, I'm not really upset. I've just checked out emotionally. I am getting married in a couple months and moving to the Midwest, and I honestly think it'll be a relief to leave all of this behind me. It's just not healthy. Maybe I'm being a bad fan or whatever, but it's not worth my personal well-being to keep doing this to myself.

I'll stick it out through the rest of this season but I'll be happy to move on to a Saints-less existence. I just can't do it anymore.

Kudos to all you guys who choose to keep sticking it out. You're made of sterner stuff than I am.

Just so it's not Brett effing Favre instead of us.

Nah...I'll be a lifer with the Saints. If it's one thing the Saints have taught me in +30 years is that nothing is a given. Bless you, Saints, you never fail to disappoint.

I know exactly what you mean. I've been a fan for 40+ years. I thought I had reached a point where they could never fool me again. But they come out and look like the best team in the league for 13 games then roll over and play dead against a pathetic team like the Bucs.

This is the NFL. Any team can lose any week. Still no excuse for our poor play.

Re: Anybody else about ready to pack it in?

I won't pack it in, as I haven't packed it in for 40 years with this team, despite mostly losing seasons for decades. But I'm really disappointed right now. This was a pathetic effort today. It was almost like the team thought they only had to play one quarter of football and they would win it. I just don't understand how they can be so flat at this point in the season.

Take it easy everyone. I was a Saints fan before this lucky run, and I'll be one even if it's over. Just the same, I understand the feelings and frustrations of those who've been disappointed in this team over the years. This year will be the single most disappointing Saints season of all time if we continue to play as we have been.

If anyone can be sympathetic to being crushed by this team, it's long time Saints fans. Those of you who are playing the "get the hell out card", you strike me as those who don't know what it's like to be destroyed by this team over and over again. If you've been a fan as long as I have, you understand the emotions those people are writing here and you also know that they'll be back and drinking the kool-aid again next year.

Re: Anybody else about ready to pack it in?

Anyone who wants to give up on this team is not a fan. It's pathetic to even say something like that. I promise you I could just freak out right now I am so pissed but to make a statement like that is just stupid and if you feel that way, like I said no one will miss you.

Which is exactly the point.....If you have been a fan as long as you state, you know how bad most of the years have been. We are 13-2, stinking it up like hell, but in the playoffs.... We still have a new season to play and as pissed as I am right now I will be in my same seat next week and for out first playoff game. I've damaged so many things over the year pulling for the Saints i'm surprised my parents did put me out when I was younger. With that said, I have cursed and said many other things BUT NEVER that I'm ready to move on....

No, the point is that by your description you've basically thrown temper tantrums over the Saints in years past - by definition doing things you wouldn't do or say under less emotional circumstances. They are doing the same thing right now. It's doesn't make you morally superior or a better fan just because you break crap instead of ranting and saying things you don't mean on a message board. Call them on it? Sure, but cut them some slack and recognize a kindred spirit. Only Saints fans have been through the ringer like this over the last 43 years.

Totally agree. Add 7 years to your numbers and that's my story.

"Bandwagon fan" is a phrase reserved for SaintsReport.com and the cultists that live there that think a loss like today is either "fine and dandy" or you must be a bandwagon fan.

The men in the Saints locker room need to be equally as ****ed as the fans on this forum and then maybe we'll have something next week.

Good Riddance Mr. Roboto,

I hope the door hits you on the way out. I will never root for another team unless their victory helps the Saints. I will never turn my back on this team, I am from New Orleans and this is my team. Nothing pisses me off more than fairweather fans and bandwagoneers.

Soak in the loss and let's hope this makes our boys realize nothing comes easy in the NFL and no one is going to lie down to let them make the Superbowl.

From what I gathered he sounded pretty sure and calm. I never said nor thought that I was morally superior or a better fan(well after his post maybe a better fan.) Yes, while in my teenage years I've broken a few things, not out of rage, just not being aware of my surroundings. But to say you are done with this team, a team that still controls it own destiny, which is looking a little bleak right now, I just don't understand.

13-2 with a first week bye and still a possible top seed? Not even close to panicking. This Tampa game was an absolute letdown to be sure, but close up shop? Not even close.

Re: Anybody else about ready to pack it in?

Everyone needs to just chill (well, maybe not everyone --- some of you seem pretty relaxed) ... We lost today and it was EMBARRASSING no doubt, but we are still 13-2 ... We still have a first round bye and still a chance.

Okay, now that I've gotten all of the "politically correct" things out of the way to somehow PROVE to all of you that I am neither a bandwagoneer or fair weathered fan ... Man, I am PISSED!!! And I mean fuming mad at these CLOWNS. For those of you that have been fans for a long time --- I honestly get why you want to "hang it up" But, I've also been a fan long enough to know you are just saying that out of pure emotion and anger ... All of us know that you can't just "walk away" it doesn't work that way. You can leave N.O. if that is where you live, but you can't leave this team REGARDLESS of where you live! I've never lived in Louisiana (and I never plan to), but I couldn't stop loving this team even if I tried.

In the end this team won't make the SB and I'll be depressed, but I'll be back next year and the year after, etc, etc. All of you will be too ...

Temper tantrums.... That is the funniest post I have seen all year.... You are a better fan than he is... seriously.... you should have a jersey of your own, and the team should bring you out during introductions. You are by far the "better fan". maybe you should sing the national anthem next week. just because you have been through quote "hard times" doesn't mean you should come to expect it... And it certainly doesn't mean you should expect to get kicked in the face when you are finally standing on your own two feet. every man, or woman has his, or her breaking point when it comes to faith. faith only goes so far....

Re: Anybody else about ready to pack it in?

I think I speak for many when I say that I have not given up on the Saints, but have instead given up on the thought that we walk through the NFC and end up in the Superbowl.

We're going to have to put together 8 consecutive quarters of our A game to make it, and that's something we haven't done in MANY weeks.

So...

Packing it in on the Saints being a sure thing for the Superbowl - YES!!!

Packing it in on the Saints themselves - Not no, but HELL NO!!!!

I became a fan, when Hank Stram was head coach.... I was still a fan, when we drafted Archie Manning.... I was still a fan when Bum Phillips took over... I was still a fan when Bum Phillips bailed out... Through Mora, the Dome Patrol, Everette, Collins, Ditka, Haslett, McCarthy, and now Peyton, I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAN. But if you expect me, to watch a game, like I did today, LOSE, and come in here with positives, just for the sake of keeping the peace, you can kiss my black and gold azzzzz... Question my fanhood? I could give a shi$. I don't like to lose games to 2-12 teams, when my team is supposed to represent the NFC in the superbowl.

I've been doing this long enough where the approval of a few "so called" hard core Saints fans, means about as much to me, as welfare cheese. I am mad about this game. And any true Saints fan should be just as mad. If not, then I guess that the "hippie" movement meant more to you than me.

SaintPaul ... You feel EXACTLY like I do! 28 years now ... I don't need to prove my fan hood to ANYONE! I'm pissed as hell and if you aren't ... Then I don't get YOU!!! This team is GOOD ... Just not good enough ... How much longer are we going to have to wait to actually win a SB!?!?!? (Because it won't be this year!!!!) I'm sick of this crap ... A loss to a 2-12 AT HOME with SO MUCH ON THE LINE --- We aren't for real. Time to get real people.

This thread is full of pathetic. We lose 2 games and the world implodes. Did you people think they were just going to let us coast to the super bowl. Every game is tough to win whether it's against the pats or a 2-12 tampa team who has been playin some pretty good ball as of late in case u haven't been watching. This season is far from over. In fact it's only just begun.

Re: Anybody else about ready to pack it in?

Every year, I go through this. Whether it's here, or some other saints website. I am supposed to be content with the fact that we did our best, or we are not as bad as we used to be, or "i like the Saints, I have felt sorry for them for so many years". I'm not putting up with this anymore. If we are as good, as I think we are this year. If we have a potential MVP, at QB this year. If we are as solid, on both sides of the ball, as I have heard ALL FREAKIN' YEAR... then I don't want to hear one more word out of "hardcore saints fans" mouths, about how, we are still doing really good, and "no one would have predicted us to be 13-2", like we are a bunch of retarded kids who painted inside of the lines for the first time ever, again for the rest of my freakin life! This was an embarassment of a loss today, and EVERYONE OF YOU, should acknowledge it, and me mad about it.

All I know is I feel like I've had this dark cloud over my head from August to December every year since I was 7 or 8 years old. And I'm tired of it and ready to move on.

If you can take the endless disappointments, that's great. But I can't.

Following the Saints is simply not something I can do anymore, mentally or emotionally. It's not like I'm jumping ship to another team or anything like that. I'm just kind of over the whole sports thing.

Like I said, maybe that makes me a bad fan. I'm OK with that.

Tampa? Are you freakin serious right now? Are you serious? The thread is full of pathetic? Yeah, let's go back and count how many superbowl winners lost to teams that were two and twelve the years they "won it all". Seriously. I want to see your findings on this theory. I totaaly agree with SaintPaul25.... OUR team sucked azz today.. Bottm line.. If they play like this next week.. MURDER.. if they play like this against anyone in the playoffs...MURDER.. When I say murder, I mean double digit blowouts... Right now, we are not looking like a 13-2 team folks.. We look like jokes.. I luv the Saints man, but they screwed us today... How the hell do you blow a 17 point lead to a 2-12 team at HOME? No EXCUSE.. The whole damn organization should be ashamed of themselves... Caddilac Williams didnt have a 100 yeard rushing game since 2006.. Guess what? He had one today.. They betta get their isht together or we will get embarrassed in the playoffs... Not one point in the second half by our "high powered" offense.. I saw no passion out of our boys today... GET IT TOGETHER.. With that being said.. WHO DAT
