Playoff Opponents

The six teams in the NFC are set, but there's a long way to go with seedings. Here's how it stands right now:

1. Saints
2. Eagles
3. Vikings
4. Cardinals
5. Packers
6. Cowboys

Right now we would play the winner of the GB-Ariz game, or the Cowboys if they beat the Vikings.

The Vikings could move to #2 if they win and Dallas beats Phil. They could drop to #4 and have to play GB if they lose to NYG and Ariz wins

Basically we could play anybody but Philly in the divisional round.
So who do you want? No poll, just choices and reasons

The Cards..because i think we could get pressure on Warner and force some turnovers...they are still dangerous but i like our chances against them and the Eagles in the Championship..

I don't want to face any of them at the moment. Every team on your list can beat us handily considering the way we have been playing for the last month. Since we can't stop the run, I'll go with the team with the worst run game and say the Cardinals.

Re: Playoff Opponents

Don't matter who the Saints play.

If they play well they WILL beat anyone.

If they don't play well, they might beat anyone or they might lose.

And the Saints could face Philly in the Divisional round. Any scenario where Philly loses Sunday puts them as the 5 or 6 seed with the possibility of playing the Saints in the divisional round.

The only team the Saints WILL NOT possibly face in the divisional round is the 3rd seed.

That could be anyone but the Packers. So the Saints could see any of the 5 other playoff team in the Divisional round.

you're right- I forgot that Dallas already beat Philly once

i agree w/ you. i dont wanna play any of those teams right now. if i had to pick, though, it'd be the cowgirls. we played awful, and still almost won. i think we get it right the second time around.

...but, the saints better play awesome and show me something on sunday against the panthers. cause we look like **** right now!

Thay all look problematic to me. Thank goodness we are in the Dome.

Remember the other thread that referred to NFC Scenarios

I think I prefer the Cards 1st game which means that:
the Cards have to be a winning number 4 seed in the wild card playoffs and the number 3 seed (whoever that is) wins through.

If I could choose, I'd prefer to play a team that didn't have elite pass rushers. To me, that means Arizona. I'll take the Cardinals if we can.

we're supposed to have elite pass protection. i dont know what happened against the cowgirls. got to get better production from our tackles, as far as pass blocking goes.

All of these teams scare me right now. Everyone of these teams is capable of running the ball and all have potentially lethal passing attacks. Man, right now against the Saints defense, the Cardinals and Warner could have a freaking field day. Really, things need to get cleaned up in a hurry.

Re: Playoff Opponents

I think the key is the health of Greer and Ellis. If we can get Porter and Greer starting at CB and Gay back at the nickel with Ellis inside, then GW can become more aggressive with the Defensive pressures. We have had to try and hide M Jenkins weakness for the last 2 months. On offense, missing Shockey has allowed the opposition to blitz more without his receiving threat down the middle of the field. #85 Thomas has done a good job as an all purpose TE FB etc. If Eckel can become servicable, we will be able to use both Shockey and Thomas in 2 TE sets. That could vastly improve the running game. The bye is also a plus, their bye week was October 11, a little time to get their legs back under them could do wonders!

Unfortunately, However, the players behind him??????????????? The NFL rules favor passing the ball. You need a shut down corner! Before his injury, I only saw Greer give up 1 TD. I think it was to Roddy White. A pretty good WR

Hes been exposed and picked on ALOT over the last few weeks. Especially on 3rd down. He knows they are throwing at him, I know it,you know it...its a weakness if everyone knows and it still isnt addressed

I like how we match up against the Packers, Vikes, and Cards, because we can put up the points against their defenses, no prob.

I least like the Eagles, who frankly are playing good ball and are getting tough on D. Defintely NOT the team we beat earlier in the season.

Re: Playoff Opponents

Isn't it impossible for us to tell who we will play until the wildcard round is over...because even if we knew the seeding, we would have to know who wins on that day?

1 and 2 seeds sit on wildcard weekend and watch. After that, 1 plays the lowest remaining seed and 2 plays the other...if I'm not mistaken.

I think the Eagles are the best team in the NFC right now. If they take care of Dallas Sunday then we don't have to worry about them until the championship game.

And the TD that Greer gave up to White was after an obvious offensive pass interference which was not call, in which White pushed Greer out of the way.

I like our chances against anybody if we play our game. I'd like to think with pretty much the full complement (except Heath Evans, God I miss that dude) of players at our disposal that we can beat anybody.

Especially when 100% healthy. Glad to see our starters resting vs Carolina.

I think it's a personal preference since in order to be the best, you have to beat the best. Bring it on. It doesn't matter who we play. They're all good.

I'd enjoy seeing us play Dallas for revenge and then play Minnesota. I picked those teams strickly for personal reasons. It has nothing to do with matchups.
