Personally I'd only want 2 back. Well 1-1/2 really.

LeRoi Glover (even though he demanded a fortune). In hindsight I think he'd do extremely well teamed up with Grady. It would also allow Sullivan some growing time. Our DL would be a lot closer to Tampax's had we done this and we'd still be good long term. I think this is really the only mistake (player not re-signed wised) the Saints made.

Sammy Knight. I know I've bashed his 5.0 speed and will probably get hammered by the I told you so crowd, but with the injury to Mel Mitchell it would be nice to have him back. He'd provide experience and I think would team up well with Tebucky Jones. I only view him as a short term fix though, and I'd make it a priority to upgrade his position. It would have been nice if he would have decided to stay.

Honorable Mention:
Roaf. But he wanted WAY too much money and we got some extra picks for him. His cap would have prevented a lot of our current roster from being here. He also didn't want to be here so he may have been a major distraction. Kinda like Turley, except with talent.
Delhomme: I love his attitude and he'd make an excellent west coast offense QB. But with Brooks here he'd be a major distraction to our golden smiley boy. I like Bouman, but Jake would have worked out fine as well. His attitude may even spread to some of the lifeless players on this team.

Letting LeRoi Glover go was a mistake ,we have the money need to have kept him. Also if we stiil had Glover we would not have needed to draft Sullivan. We could of selected Trufant, and would not have to have give up as much pick wise to have gotten him . Glover instead of Sullivan plus Trufant and another pick, sounds a lot better to me.

After seeing how well Takeo Spikes played in Buffalo, I must admit, we should have given this guy top money to come here.
I think Haz for the most part makes good (not great) personell decisions, but man, Spikes is ferocious. He may be better than Derrick Brooks.

As much as I would have loved to see Spikes in NO, it wasn\'t going to happen. The Buffalo fans had Spikes won over before teams even realized he was going to be a FA. It didn\'t matter how much money was tossed at him (within reason), he was going to end up in Buffalo.
I think that letting Knight go was a bad mistake. When I look at how long he sat on the market before someone took interest, and how badly we need him now. Damn, like we couldn\'t figure out a contract with him.

Actually, we didn\'t even need to \"figure out a contract\" with Knight. All we had to do was say, \"Sammy, we\'re revamping the defense. We know you want an extension, but we need to focus in other areas right now. We\'ll get to your contract next season. ok?\"

He was under contract. The Saints showed no interest in extending that contract or working out a deal for the future and blamed the defensive collapse on him. So he voided his last year and left... if I remember correctly.
