Boy was 2006 the all time serial killer tease.

What made Reggie so good in 2006? Duce!
Who benefited the most from Duce? Reggie!

See it was a beautiful love affair while it lasted. Bush would dance around with the defense and Duce would sneak up and slash their throats. When the defense went to contain Duce it was Bush turn to do the slashing. They never knew from where the wounds were coming from.

We all were giddy like little school girls watching as the blood run all over the field. Opposing teams were helpless and their fans horrified by the carnage. Just when they thought they had stopped the slaughter Drew would start to pick apart the secondary one player at a time. Ah it was bitter sweet carnage. Depending on which side off the field you sat.

Two years later and we still have not had that mix on the field since 2006. The offense has been exposed for weakness as has the defense. Attack the weak links and we break. Reggie? Duce? PT? It does not matter. Not one of these guys can carry this team alone without help.

Right now:
PT is a keeper
Bush is a Keeper
Duce is a big question mark.

The real question is this:

Can PT replace Duce and get the same kind of respect from the defense to make Bush the best player he can be?

I say No.

PT has done one thing this year. He has moved up the depth chart from the #4 RB position to a solid #2. He has allowed me to forget old whats his name we drafted in 4th. He makes me feel much better about him replacing Stecker in the line up if Stecker decides to hang the cleats up next year. I want Stecker back if he wants to return. No No No Bush is not a RB he is a RB/WR hybrid. There is a difference. So do not go there! In the old days we called them half backs or split backs or flankers depending on how old you are. Not Tail back.

Now continuing onward please...

If for some reason the NYG decide to let Brandon Jacobs walk because of a bidding war then I pray to god the saints go after him with every FA dollar they can make. Because PT nor Bush is not of his caliber. If the Giants keep Jacobs and let Ward walk I say the saints do the same thing. PT would be a great rotational guy with either of the NYG cast offs.

Bush would benefit from either back being here. PT would benefit. Heck Drew and the rest of the team would.

IF the saints do this they must go all out not only in FA but also in the draft and get the best LOT they can can. Finish building this offense early and then add to the defense. Brown is a perinnel pro bowler at RT not LT.

We need to be that team that in 2006 drove the field in 8+ minutes against Philli for the game winning field goal. That is offensive defense. That is what we do not have with Duce out. Ball control! PT is not the answer. Bush is not the answer. That is only 2/3's of the machine. So till the last 1/3 is added we are only going to be a team that strikes quickly to kill on the field. No slow long drawn out killings that only the elite teams can do. The kind that are not only slow but also brutal and show no mercy. Ripping a defense apart by widdling away at it's part instead of it's whole with each play is so sweet to watch..

Yes, YES!, Oh my God YES!, Give me that sadistic methodical slaughter on the field. Saving the kill shoot for the final moments of a teams final gasp of life on the field.

Now that my friends is an offense that wins championships in football. I need a cig.

Please leave all that new age politically correct sensitivity crap at the curb.

see that is were we dis agree. In 2006 the attack was balanced better. Bush was used to free Duce up and vice verse. We got away from that and never have been able to return to it for one reason or another.

The question is this, If we do get another back that can get us the shortage we need while being able to break a couple will the FO go out and get the missing pieces to the OL that we need to make it work?

Another question can Sean become unpredictable and do conservative play calling to make it all work. Right now teams expect the unexpected from us. The unexpected is now conservative play calling. But we do not have all the pieces to do that. So back to question #1

All of that is fine and dandy if we had a coach that wanted to actually RUN the ball sometimes. But if we have Jacobs or Ward they will end up warming the bench like Duece. Payton like explosiveness, highlight reels and all that. Not good old fashion smashmouth football. And that's going to cost him his job within the next 2 years. Payton hasnt really done anything Haslett didnt. Payton has about a .500 win PCT and won ONE playoff game. One winning season. And a bunch of 7-9 or 8-8 garbage.

The only reprive I will give Payton in the running game is that we don't know all of the facts concerning Deuce. Again after the game yesterday Booby Hebert commented on how Deuce is having his knee drained at least once a week. Now this isn't an excuse for why he's not running PT more but it could explain the lack of Deuce.

why am i so upset? i can't put the win against the giants in 2006 out of my mind---the giants were so lost and we were kicking butt----look at where we are now----this 2nd season of crap will make people other than me question this great new coach----fellow saint's fans we've been fooled but at least it is fun to watch--drew dropping back and going 30 for 40----------------it's just awesome being exciting and going what 0 and 17 when we are losing after 3 quarters--------------last years pitiful start and now this year-----take the injury excuse and stick it---we are no more physical than we were last year-------and for the second year in a row we are home during the play-offs -------Sean Tinkerbell Payton

I love PT. He is a good back and an amazing story. I actually hope next season defesnes DON'T respect PT enough. Then he can run all over the field. He is deceptively fast, tough to take down, and has soft hands. I am really excited about how we will look next season. Let's stop all this offensive woes and talk about our true weakness..........DEFENSE! We need a DT, DE, LB, 2CBs, FS, SS. We need to sit Vilma down and tell him we will put him on the market, BUT will re sign him so that we don't lose that first rounder which will be used on the CB from Illinois. Then it will be a free for all once Free Agency actually does start. We need some playmakers on defense.

Sorry I am rambling now. I will stop. I WANT DEFENSE!

I again noticed reference being made that Brown should move back to RT. My question is where do the Saints get a new LT from? Is Streif or Bushrod the answer? I doubt it at this point, so where do we get this new LT from? Are there any in free agency that are better than Brown, if so how much would it cost?
