STILL DISRESPECTED

Kevin Kiley, co-host of the Michael Irvin Show (here in Dallas on 103.3 FM ESPN) show no love for the Saints after they went out and beat the Vikings. For the first hour of the show (at the time of this typing) Kevin kept talking about his boyfriend, "BRENT FAVRE", but Michael gave his opinion and he didn't ride on Favre's 'supporter' as much as Kevin did. A Saints fan, who also lives in the DF-Dub, call in on the show and told Kevin (a former Canadian League reject) not to disrespect the Saints. And he got a bit sarcastic with the man by butchering 'congratulations' on the air. The FAVRE-KISS-FEST continues.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l.../Brett1000.jpg
CHORUS:
How can we just leave him standing
alone with the Black and Gold
Maybe we're just too demanding
Maybe Brett needs to just face it, HE'S TOO OLD!!

Maybe he's just like his mother
He just cannot decide
Why do he scream at Ol' Chilly
This is what it sounds like when FAVRE CRIES!

They probably won't respect us even after we win the Super Bowl.

F the media! Let them hate!

We're winners.

As usual.....we just have to go out and take it all! Nothing they can do but cry then!

Hey 9th, I listened to the Ticket here in Dallas on the way to the office just to see what was doin since they are all Cowboys freaks. Same thing, everything Favre and discussing whether he should come back or not. Sigh.

To tell you the truth I don't give a rat's tail what the media thinks. When you have haters you must be doing something right and the Saints are doing all the right things.

Skip "Douche" Bayless was wearing a purple and selling the Saints far short again ... some things never change.

Re: STILL DISRESPECTED

True, but to hate us, you have to at least acknowledge the existence of. I'm just worn thin from the Favre reality show we've all had to endure. The guy is like a terminal illness. There seems to be no cure to get rid of him.

Dallas just got their arses handed to them but the local stations still want to sit around and discuss him while history is being made elsewhere? I just don't understand the obsession.

This morning i watched the Dan Patrick Show on tv and noticed he was a little dissappointed that the saints won, he tried to downplay the game as a lucky win for the saints and the vikings should have won, the saints earned their spot in the superbowl

They know that they will lose legions of fans in north louzyana now.

F**K their respect. I ain't worth nothing to us. Let them hate, let them make excuses. All I care about is winning the big one and I bet you every guy on the Saints team feels exactly the same way.

Re: STILL DISRESPECTED

(rant on) We've never been respected in this league. We've always been the joke. We're 15-3 and 1 game away from being the NFL CHAMPIONS. Count how many times in the next 2 weeks someone in the media mentions "Bags over their heads" or "Aints". That's how they still see us. To them, 2006 was a fluke for us. Sure, after Katrina and the 2005 season, our success on the field made us the "fell good, cinderella" story. But they still didn't respect us. Look how poorly the NFCC game in Chicago was refereed. If there was any way to call something against us, they did. (personal observation here: The league was under pressure to have a 'Black coach in the Superbowl' and sacrificed our season to get one from the NFCC game, and shut the outsiders up. By contrast, look how easy the refs were in the Colts game--the League already had the coach it needed in the SB to shut people up.)

People don't get, or don't want to get that this city and this team have changed. There are very few players left from 2005 here. Our mindset is different. Gone is that "I'm just here to get paid and not do anything" attitude you saw in Aaron Brooks and that lunchbox on the defensive line, who spent more time at the buffets than he did on the field. This is a hungry team. If you don't want to be here, and don't want to play every down, Coach doesn't want you. That's the kind of mindset we've needed here for a long time.

So, we can hoist a trophy over Miami, but we still won't get respected, especially if it's at all a close game like last night. You'll only hear how we 'got lucky' or the Colts 'let it slip through their fingers'. The Saints don't need to win this one for respect. We need to win it for the city. For all the fans over the years. For all the teams, both past and present. For ourselves. And F! the world's opinion of us. (rant off)

Re: STILL DISRESPECTED

Yep, they (media, announcers, refs, etc.) can take their "canned respect" and "ho" it around on all the other teams, handing it out in small measured doses to their favs, or whatever story is hot at the time. What good does it ever do anyone, anyway? We got US...we got our team...we don't need their crappola! ;) WHO DAT!

Re: STILL DISRESPECTED

I was just kidding. (well, not actually about Dallas... but I was joking around with you)

I don't listen to the talking heads that much. I would bet cash they are wrong most of the time. What they say has no bearing on reality.

Easy now. I live in North Louisiana and have been a fan of the Saints for 25 years. This area I am in is predominantly Saints' fans. The northwest corner, however, (Bossier City/Shreveport area) has a lot of Cowboy fans. I try to stay out of that city as much as possible.

I listened to the Tim Brando show on my trip home from New Orleans today. Gotta love the homeboy. He seemed just as sick of hearing about Brett Favre as we do. He kept reiterating how the media is barely talking about the game and mostly about what Favre is going to do. I'm sick of it all, too. There's just nothing we can do about it, because they are going to talk about what they want to talk about....whether we like it or not.

I have lived amongst these Cowboys fans for years, but that ugly blue star has been getting more and more rare in public over the past decade and more young fans are becoming Saints.

Awesome. Hopefully, with your help, that area can turn Black and Gold! That is the main reason I don't go to Shreveport/Bossier, because I don't have to deal with the Cowboys fans that live there....and that I always lose my arse at the casinos over there. I saw we pack all their butts up and ship them to Dallas!

I am sure a lot of it has to do with our success this year, but on any given Sunday during the season I would make a run to Walmart to stock up on game day supplies and the Saints paraphernalia on shoppers outnumbered Cowgirl garb ten to one! It is beautiful!

The thing about the NFL is that all the talk all the BS, all the gay power rankings don't mean a hill of beans. The NFL winning the one game is all that matters. To win it you have to be in it, an unless I was dreaming again for the billionth time we won the second most important game of the year. We are the best team in the NFC and that is undisputed.

To them, every Saints win is a "Lucky" win.

I wonder if they called the Steelers win in Indy during the '05 Playoffs LUCKY after the doors on 'The Bus' (Jerome Bettis' goalline fumble) blew open? Or the Giants SB XLII win against previously unbeaten New England Patriots, with David Tyree catching the ball with his helmet, LUCKY? Does anyone remember the 'Big Ben' Game (Saints vs Falcons)? Did they call that "Dirty Bird" win against us LUCKY? (I wonder if the Lions were to go to the Super Bowl, what would these clowns say then?)

Here's something that I don't understand (or 'Overstand'): Many Cow fan want the Saints to lose to the very team that slaughtered them in the playoffs, and the Cows stopped our 13-game win streak!! Isn't that supposed to be the other way around?? You hope for the team, that you beat in the regular season, or any team for that matter, beat the team that you lost to.

All I can say is that their 'donkeys' have been exposed, AND IT FEELS SO GOOD!!!

Re: STILL DISRESPECTED

I dont know why everyone is upset because they feel like the Saints are disrespected. In order to earn respect you have to have consistency for an extended period of time. This team has not shown consistency to be good year over year since its inception. Respect is earned. This has been and continues to be a magical season. 2006 was an amazing season. Then two mediocre seasons in between. I was born at Lakeside hospital in Metarie in July of 1977. My family have been season ticket holders since 1975. We have seen many horrible seasons, and a couple of magical ones. Once the Saints can show they are contenders year after year they will earn the respect. Until then who cares what the national feeling is about us. We know what this team is about.

Donuts32 has it spot on. Screw everyone else. No matter what we do or how we win it will be because of other factors and not us. Don't care; we are Superbowl bound for the first time in our history and no one else outside the WhoDat Nation matters.

I think it is more giving credit where it is due is what people are peeved about. And I think respect should come when you've made it to the big dance because you've earned it. You've played a hard season and have beaten some of the best to ge there. In my book, that deserves respect.

I agree, but the national media doesnt care about one season. Look at the colts they were laughed at before Manning got there. He has made them consitent contenders and now they are the model of a team to the media. It takes more than one good season here and there to earn respect.

Re: STILL DISRESPECTED

I don't care at all if the media wants to diminish our win. No matter what they say it isn't going to change the result. When I woke up today, I went to work rocking out a Saints shirt and was smiling all day. We've waited a long time for this and no one is going to put a damper on my mood.

I just heard another talking head on the NFL Network tell everybody that the Saints didn't win that game, the vikes lost it. He also said that the vikes d shut down our offense and we couldn't stop the vikes offense. How does a team score 31 points and get considered shutdown?

Whose respect? Some douchebag fan from MinnieSoota?

Brett Favres respect? Society at large?

Some of us have been around for a lot longer than 77 and don't give a chit about "what people respect".

Are all these people we are supposed to be concerned about their respect... are they the same nitwits who eat at McDonalds daily?

Just because a bunch of people do something doesn't make it good.
