Congrats from Boilermaker Country

Yep, I'm a Purdue alum, sitting here in my office in Lafayette, Indiana, that features a Drew Brees autographed Rose Bowl football. Yesterday, I wore my favorite Colts sweatshirt and cheered on my favorite NFL team to a win over the Jets and a trip to the big show.

Here in Boilermaker Country there are a LOT of Purdue fans who will be very conflicted on Super Bowl Sunday. We are all very excited to get to watch our Colts and our Drew play in the Super Bowl. I will be cheering for the Colts, but don't be surprised if I cheer whenever Drew throws a TD pass. I want my Colts to win, but if the Saints win, I will be very happy for my fellow Purdue alum. A win-win situation!

It's going to be a very special Super Bowl indeed!

My sister is a Pudue alum and is already stressing over to side with on this game. She loves Brees, but is a Colt can. It will be intresting to see how it is on the PU campus superbowl weekend....

This will be quite the game. Not sure if you are aware but there is a fairly large voudou community in New Orleans. You'll be lucky if Manning doesn't have something fall off before game time. They are casting voudou ruuts his way. I wouldn't get anywhere near him if I were you.

Seems like we may all have that same problem. While I wont be rooting for the Colts I still admire Peyton Manning, and look at him as a native son. I wont be happy if he wins, but it couldnt happen to a better QB or person.

Brees' jerseys flying off store shelves | WLFI - West Lafayette, Indiana

Local Lafayette IN news have picked up on this. Brees jerseys have always been a stock item in local stores even before he joined the Saints. It helps that Purdue team colors and Saints team colors are nearly identical. Interesting comments from Purdue students but be mindful that these students come from all over the country so they are not automatically Colts fans just because they go to college in Indiana.

True! Especially in the north/northwest part of the state, even more so in the East Chicago/Gary/Hammond area. Bears have been in Chicago a lot longer than the Colts have been in Indy. And I have a 1985 Bears Superbowl Champions plaque on the wall in my basement.

I've always liked the Purdue similarity to Saints uniform-wise and how well they compete well in most all of the mens and womens sports. Like the Boilers more now because of Drew, I'll usually pull for 'em over other teams.

I love both QBs, because Peyton is a NOLA son, but I will be cheering on the Black and Gold 100% in the Super Bowl.
