Let's hear it for Brooks and the Defense.

That was the best Deffensive performance by the Saints that I\'ve seen in about 2 years. The D kept things in check for the 1st half while the O was struggling (47 yards passing.) and they kept up pressure all day, hope it is signs of things to come. The O cranked up in the 2nd half and Brooks had a good day, although the numbers weren\'t great the most important factor was no interceptions. what can you say about Deuce ?he just keeps doing his job.
While one game doesn\'t make or break ya, it was nice to see some improvements, now the important thing is to stay focused and build on this.

Billy Quote:
\"All I\'m saying is that the folks that were indicating the season is a lost cause were wrong.\"

LOL!!! Billy this was one game and it was against the Texans. It was a much needed win but it was a win EVERYONE had winning.

The season starts this sunday. The first two games should have been \"gimme\'s\", but I was always looking at games 3-9 as to deterining what this team can do.

Also, from what I have been reading it kinda sounds like the coaching staff may have figured it out that this may be their last year if the team falters. The adjustments at halftime appears to be letting it all hang out. This is what alot of us had been wanting to see.

Lets see what happens with above average competition now.

People, we didn\'t win because Brooks \"showed improvement\". Thats what really pizzez me off about some of ya\'ll. Brooks didn\'t play poorly in week one.

Some of you are complaining about AB focusing in on Horn, but I was watching that game too, and from what \"I\" could see on the screen, I couldn\'t tell if anyone else was really open in the first half. Were they? I DID see our TE drop a pass that hit him in the numbers tho.

I saw Brooks make short throws. I saw Brooks hit Horn IN STRIDE over the middle. I saw Brooks hit Donte\' IN STRIDE down the sideline. I saw Brooks do things he\'s done hundreds of times before -- things that two people in here in particular said he couldn\'t do -- and I heard the fair weather fans in the Dome cheering him as if they never doubted him for a second. I saw receivers CATCH the ball...something I haven\'t seen regularly since mid-season last year. ...and I saw Brooks smile a time or three too. Adda Boy Aaron...you give \'em hell baby!

Furthermore, and on a somewhat related topic, I don\'t think the poster boy for \"backups that should be starting\" did very well yesterday. Does anyone think Jake should have been benched for Rodney? LOL

1st-There\'s a huge difference between Couldn\'t do, and Wasn\'t doing.
Last week he wasn\'t doing the things you claim we said he couldn\'t do.
(Maybe you weren\'t referring to my comments about him not hitting his WR\'s in stride like WC QB\'s are supposed to do, if so nevermind)
Unfair mis-representation.
I doubt there\'s one person here that feels Brooks CAN\'T do it. Many of us feel he has SUPERSTAR talent, but too often plays average. This week he played to his potential and if he continues, a trip to Hawaii may be his reward.

2nd-When players do well, they get cheered, when they do bad they don\'t.
Get over it. We aren\'t fairweather fans. This week he did the things that warrant getting cheered. Last week he didn\'t, not couldn\'t, didn\'t.

Off saints, No Jake shouldn\'t have been benched for Peete, Weinke maybe, but not Peete

Whether we agree or disagree; its all for Him.

Now saintfan -- I disagree. Brooks was the reason we lost last week and he is the reason we won this week. I\'m ah changing my way of thinking. If ya can\'t beat \'em join \'em..

Let's hear it for Brooks and the Defense.

Absolutely fantastic second half of football by the Saints. The team found the one thing they didn\'t have all last week and in the first half....consistency. The second half was absolutely lights out by our team on both sides of the ball.
A couple of things that suprised me:
1- at the beginning of the game I was even starting to get excited at the plays Jay Bellamy was making. He was in the backfield disrupting, making solid tackles......but then he decided to check his pockets for change on the goalline. Carr made him look like a broadcaster.
2- Our DL had a fantastic day. I know Miami was the only team the Texans O-line ever held sackless but that unit had to have some confidence going up against us and the front 4 played their hearts out. They get the game ball as far as I\'m concerned. I give these guys the credit for the low yardage both rushing and passing. They kept our secondary alive in this game.
3- Brooks had a weird day. He was locked on Horn all first half but he made nice throws all day long. He rolled it out, tucked it, made nice play fakes (something I think has been a huge weakness). If I had to find a criticism in his day it would be tough. Bad clock management? As I said before....who cares...we won.
4- Carolina......that says it all. Tom Jackson on primetime before the games saying how Tampa could run the table.....how\'s that sh!t taste Tom?

Defensively, if we turn in that kind of performance on any week we can win. I was very impressed with David Carr in that game as well as the whole Titans recieving corp. They will be a very decent team soon.

Let's hear it for Brooks and the Defense.

Brooks: I\'m off his bandwagon now. I saw him smiling and giggling AGAIN as we were getting it handed to us. He can\'t hit a WR in stride, which the westcoast system requires.
Although his balls have plent zip on them as they\'re thrown 3 yards behind a streaking WR.
I don\'t have to \"claim\" anything tweeky. It gets posted here constantly. If it matters I wasn\'t referring to your comments from last week tho. If I can find it I\'ll post a quote from \"08\" where he states Brooks CAN\'T make the throws discussed...the very ones he made yesterday. Maybe I can find the posts where Whodat and \"08\" were indicating that this supposed lack of ability was their (latest) reason for benching Brooks and handing the team to the (as they would have us believe) obviously more talented Jake Delhomme.

Lately, the argument has been that, while Brooks is \"ok\", he\'s not right for the \"system\". Now, maybe I\'m wrong, but looked pretty damn good in the \"system\" yesterday.

Finally, I was wrong an you were right. Weinke would probably be the better choice!

:P
