His wife Brittany will accept the award on his behalf this afternoon.

The award is based on fan voting. Brees beat out Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning and Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. In the process, he earned a $25,000 donation from FedEx to the New Orleans-area Safe

how does he win this 2 years in a row and still not have a league MVP?

he beats out peyton manning at the only thing peyton manning does, leads his team to the super bowl, breaks his team down at the beginning of every game and practice

is the unquestioned leader of the team on and off the field.....is always the first one to practice and sees the field better than anyone in the game despite his short stature

yet manning won MVP yet again when he was probably ranked 3rd the entire year behind brees and favre

peyton is an all time great.....but brees was better this season and last season.....its alright to admit that someone is better during a certain season

He doesnt get MVP because the AP is all over Peyton's jock!! Would rather him win SB MVP. Lets go Drew!

I agree! Brees had better years this year and last year. If I recall (and correct me if I'm wrong) he threw for more yards than Peyton last year, he threw more TD passes this year and had less interceptions than Peyton this year. A friend of mine told me the reason he wasn't considered for MVP last year, even though he threw for over 5,000 yards, was because he didn't make the playoffs. Apparently that affects how the AP votes. I think it's bullsh*t, but the MVP voting is based on popularity. It sucks!

I cant argue that Brees hasnt had MVP worthy seasons the last 2 years. Hes been lights out and Im a fan of the guy. But you can't use football logic and say that Manning isn't deserving.

Drew Brees the Great!..

And i'd be in the argument with you guys about him not getting MVP, and yea he's an on and off the field leader and first to be on the field, can break down defenses pretty well, but at the Sametime, Everything thats successful about the Colts is of credit to P. Manning, he calls the plays, he surgically dissect defenses alone almost single-handedly, he works just as hard on his craft as Bree's does if not harder, and if Manning goes down, Colts are a 3-13, 4-12 team at best..
The rest of that team cannot carry that team to a win..
if you can upset P. Manning you pretty much can win any game, however he's been sacked a few times, balls batted down, frustrated a lot and came back from deficits he shouldn't have..
Thats what gives Manning the edge..
After Saints win's this Superbowl Saints players and the organization for a long time will be getting all their props and respect they rightfully deserve, they may still get it no matter what but if they win Saints will be apart of the legendary status that is part of the Superbowl winning club.
Then Brees and any players associated with Saints will get the Kudo's they deserve .. (of course after the Favre watch is over)

peyton is great but he isnt deserving of it because Drew Brees was better

without drew playing like a mad man these past 2 seasons peyton would've won those MVPs and i would've never said anything about it

but seeing as how drew has done a better job than peyton over the past 2 seasons, peyton doesnt deserve those awards and i cant in good conscience say he won those

peyton stole those mvps
