I've seen, read, and heard hundreds and hundreds of analysis. All I can say is if we bring our A game, I don't think anyone can beat us. Let's get this game doing ALREADY! Just imagine if the wait was 3 weeks, I'd probably jump off a bridge.

Wow were to start. A few seasons back the Colts had the most dominating offense in football. Peyton was throwing TD's like no one's business and set the record at the time for the most in the season. Didn't get us a SB win. What wins the game is an overall team performance. Your D is ranked 25th and will have struggles. Your boy Reggie has issues with performance and ball handling. Your team is inexperienced and will get caught up in the moment.

Most have come to the conclusion that the Colts will win tomorrow. This is based on the aforementioned lazy conservativeness and a few maxims. So let's get to it.

Peyton Manning is the best QB.: This is the primary one. The Colts cannot be beaten because they have Peyton. Payton is a genius, an OC on the field. As I see it, there would be an objective measurement to back this up. Let's take a stab at it.

Offenses score points. So I guess the team that scores the most points would have the best QB. Well the Saints scored the most points in the NFL this year.

QBs throw TDs. So I guess the QB that threw the most TDs would be the best QB. Last I checked both in the regular season and playoffs, Drew Brees threw the most TDs.

QBs should not throw interceptions. Interceptions are bad for offenses. So I would guess that the QB that threw the least INTs would be the best QB. Both in the regular season (11 to 16) and in the playoffs (0 to 1) Drew Brees threw the least interceptions.

QBs should have a high QB rating, which encapsulates all the relevant QB stats. Brees: 116 Manning: 104 (that's playoffs). Brees also had the highest QB rating in the regular season.

So who's the best QB?

Turnovers: In the 34 Superbowls when a team has won the turnover battle, 31 of them have won the game (A 91% clip). The Saints were #2 in turnovers for the year and have gathered up 7 TOs in their two playoff games.

Running the football The Colts are dead last in running the football.

While it won't be a shock to the WHO DAT! Nation, the rest of the world is in for a big surprise come tomorrow.

I see a New England type score in the Saints immediate future:

Saints 38 Colts 14

Problem is the Saints haven't brought their "A" game since that MNF game vs. the Pats. Don't see you bringing it back now.

I have said all along - If we play the way WE can - we win. If we come out flat & tense - we lose.

Well I guess I really should be worried then. The Saints haven't brought their 'A' game to the playoffs. They have scored 76 points in two games and generated 7 turnovers.

I guess that maybe we may just have to go with the 'B' game then! ;-)

Let me take your points one at a time:
Quote:

A few seasons back the Colts had the most dominating offense in football. Peyton was throwing TD's like no one's business and set the record at the time for the most in the season. Didn't get us a SB win. What wins the game is an overall team performance.
Your defense was flat awful that year. Couldn't stop anyone. Couldn't stop anyone in the red zone. Couldn't generate turnovers. Couldn't get off the field on third down. Couldn't stop the run.

Quote:

Your D is ranked 25th and will have struggles.
25th. Yeah. yeah. Go take a look at the red zone, 3rd down efficiency, and turnover numbers. Unlike the Colts defense, who lost players for the year, the Saints now will have their starting LBs and secondary back for the 3rd consecutive game, after not having them play together as a group since October.

Quote:

Your boy Reggie has issues with performance and ball handling.
Wishful thinking. The Saints revolves around Drew Brees, who has had no such problems. I can also wish that Reggie runs back 2 punt returns for TDs. Last time I checked he had more punt returns for TDs than he had muffed punts.

Talking about Reggie is like saying that Donald Brown is the key to the Colts winning tomorrow.

Try this stat on. Reggie Bush has now played in 4 NFL playoff games. He had 5 TD and scored one in each one.

How's that for performance?

Quote:

Your team is inexperienced and will get caught up in the moment.
Again wishful thinking. No one said that about the Colts in 2006 when they got to the SB for the first time in 11 years with virtually no SB experience.

Also just like you guys we had a very very long undefeated streak this season. And as Sean Payton continued to point out to his team "When you continue to win, then every game is a big game."

There's also a very simple solution to that issue that the Saints can do, that I'm not so sure the Colts can (listen carefully...): SMACK YOU IN THE MOUTH!

Got jitters? Give the ball to PT23. Or Bell. Or Bush. Get behind the nearly All Pro line and smack your defense right in the mouth. Then you'll drop your safeties...

...and then it's all over. You'll see 3 more plays like that Edwards play a couple of weeks ago.

Yes the SB is the biggest sports event of the year. But at the end of the day it's a football game. A football game that's 11 on 11.

Your best hope is that your defense practices against one of the best offenses in football. Our defense practices against THE BEST OFFENSE IN FOOTBALL.
We're not afraid of Peyton. Greer, Sharper, Porter, Gay, and Harper go up against a QB who is just as smart and receivers who are just as fast on a daily basis.

You haven't played at game speed against a balanced prolific offense since mid November. You gave up 34 points to New England and was losing badly until the 4th quarter. The same New England team that we ripped a new one 6 ways from Sunday as you pointed out. And that's with a decimated defense with guys off the street.

What's your excuse?

The difference is that our defense has gone up against two SB champion, shoo in HOF QBs in the last two games. Two QBs playing some of the best ball of their careers.

Last I checked, they'll be sitting home watching the game contemplating retirement. I wonder why that is?

Colts cannot stop the Saints passing game, period. I believe they are in for a big surprise, because we have one of the best CB tandems in the NFL in Porter and Greer. Sharper is licking his chops and Manning is going to throw at least 2 picks! I can't wait for our D to show their stuff!
