Now that we’re done with the Super Bowl, it’s time to focus in on the real apex of the NFL calendar year -- draft weekend.

Since our last mock draft, several seniors improved their stocks with impressive Senior Bowl week workouts, while others weren’t as fortunate. Still a few weeks from the NFL Scouting Combine, it’s time to jump back into the madness that is mockness.

With still many more to come, here’s the 2010 Schrager Mock Draft, Version 2.0. Dig in and let me know your thoughts.

First Round
1. St. Louis Rams

Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh
(Last week: Same)

The more mock drafts I read, the more pundits I see pinning one of the two first round caliber quarterbacks -- Sam Bradford and Jimmy Clausen -- to St. Louis. Hey, the Rams need a quarterback. I realize that. But I just don’t see GM Billy Devaney and coach Steve Spagnuolo letting “The Boy Named Suh” get past them. “Spags” is a defensive mastermind at heart and few defensive prospects like Suh come along in a decade. Compared to every great three-technique DT from John Randle to Tommie Harris, Suh’s being labeled a "can’t miss". He’s the pick at No.1, regardless of team needs. I still

NOT in a trillion years. Payton likes his QB's to be to throw the football.

Just say NO to tebow

Re: Tebow a Saint?

Uhm, we already have a fairly good QB.

Tebow is a billboard. We don't need advertisements for his personal cause of the week.

LOL..yall dont shoot the mesenger..i dont want him either..but i could see Payton thinking he could make a weapon out of him..lol

Re: Tebow a Saint?

Doubt he is looking for a weapon like Tebow unless he agreed to play H back or fullback.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

I just don't see it. Payton went out of his way to keep Daniel's, so I'm thinking there must be something there. I see Brunell retiring a Saint this off season, and Daniel's taking the two spot.

H-back.. tightend..cheerleader...team pastor..who knows

Re: Tebow a Saint?

He may take time to adjust to the NFL but if he does adjust like he did from high school to college, you might want to take a chance. So what if his mechanics are horrible and his ability to take a snap suck. He can work on those things. He has shown he is a winner.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

I don't think he is the way to go with our second pick. But, going forward we darn well should have a better option for our backup QB than what we have had the last two seasons. It's been terrible to put it kindly.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

How about bringing in Pennington as a back up? I'm serious. Look what we did with Brees after that shoulder injury. He already told the Dolphins, that he would stay on with them, as whatever they will let him.

Then how do you explain Brunel being our reserve QB? He sure can't throw anymore. I'd rather have Tebow than him.

stockman311 02-10-2010 04:00 PM

Re: Tebow a Saint?

I didn't say I want Brunell either, but at least he has some NFL skins on the wall. I think we all realize here that if Brees goes down we are screwed regardless of who our backup is. Unless you guys want to go after Vick this offseason. LOL!

SAINT_MICHAEL 02-10-2010 04:16 PM

Re: Tebow a Saint?

I was mainly just struck by your trillion year statement Stock. I actually think Tebow will be a solid NFL player. But I just see how deep we are at other places and how other players have stepped up because of injuries and it blows my mind that we all know how screwed we are without Drew. Payton is a great coach. We have great talent. I scratch my head when I wonder why we don't have a better option should something happen...god forbid. Hell, the niners and raiders have better backups than we do. Skins on the wall are nothing. Otherwise Joe Montana would still be out there

Tebow is not the answer.

strato its not out of this world. i can see payton making him a big time weapon, especially on short yardage situations were we have more trouble than anywhere esle on the field. plus its getting more and more common for teams having the wildcat. but if people would worry about a qb duel between drew and tebow, they need to get there head examined. this is only my opinion please don't take this serious.

I think Pennington would be a good backup, good character guy too.

thats what i'm reading from payton also. giving chase his shot this offseason and in the preseason. but i'm sure someone else will be signed to push daniels in training camp. and i promise everyone payton won't touch TEBOW unless he's still there in the 5th round.

Thank you neugey. I'm glad you agree. I think Pennington was always an underrated QB, and if his surgery goes well, which I think it did, I think he would be an amazing back up to Brees.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

I've always been a big Pennington fan... he's great within 0-15 yards where we do most of our damage. Extremely accurate and I think ragged on way to much for his lack of arm strength. I think he'd be a great backup here and should Brees every go down, he's more than capable winning football games for us.

don't care for this at all. F-tebow

Just think, we normally would have been talking about this crap in December.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

Not sold on Tebow, but I do see some potential logic. I don't really think he is a Payton type of QB, but the guy is projected as a 4-5 year project, so that could possibly be about the time Brees is ready to hang it up. Drafting the guy in the 2nd round, not very smart for a team that still has issues to address on defense.

As for backup QB, I do believe time has run out on Brunell. The Saints should have some nice options available, a guy like Pennington would be exceptional. Also, don't rule out guys like Delhomme and Bulger who may get their walking papers this offseason. I do think it's wise to bring in a veteran, I don't think Daniel is ready yet.

SaintPauly 02-10-2010 07:49 PM

Re: Tebow a Saint?

I don't know about Delhomme.... I understand he's a homer, but he was kind of an a-hole, when he went to Carolina.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

No to Tebow.

Our backup will never be as good as Brees or shouldn't or he'd be a starter somewhere. We just need someone that can manage a game and not play like a rookie. Lets see what Chase can do next pre-season and maybe draft a late rounder or sign an undrafted to being in for competition.

Re: Tebow a Saint?

Tebow cries too much. He's not man enough to be on our roster.

xan 02-10-2010 09:50 PM

Re: Tebow a Saint?

He's not good enough to play any position for the Saints. He's not fast enough, he's not accurate enough, he's got poor technique.

Let the Jax have him. They need a lift.

I like that idea. I thought he was playing well before his injury. He is accurate and I have a feeling he would fit well in Paytons system. He's a good leader and should be more than capable as a back up. I wonder how much money he wants?
