New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who began his career with running back LaDainian Tomlinson in San Diego, launched a somewhat jocular poll Tuesday via Twitter:
"OK, due to popular demand, I am asking the question...who thinks LT should be a Saint?" Brees wrote, one day after the Chargers cut ties with the probable Hall of Fame running back rather than pay him a $2 million bonus that was due next month.
Tomlinson's future in the league is unclear at the moment as his production numbers have fallen sharply. But Brees remains unequivocally a fan:
"I would love to get LT in the black and gold," Brees tweeted in response to another poster. "Crazier things have happened."

I honestly could see LT as a Saint next year. I'm not saying I think he has anything left or that he will regain his old form, but he did play behind a horrible offensive line as far as running the ball was concerned. I posted in a thread earlier that San Diego were at the bottom of the barrel in the NFL in rushing yards and ypc as a team. The Saints have a much better offensive line and he may be able to produce a little more. I wouldn't mind seeing a three-headed monster of PT, LT, and Reggie next year. If Brees wants him, you can bet the Saints may make a run at him.

RB is a very low priority right now. 29 "freeish" agents and many existing contracts to restructure mean that LT will have to wait until other issues are hammered out.

LOW priority. We don't need any more older expensive players.

If we can restructure Bush I say sign him. If we have to release Bush, I say sign him for the right price. I like Hamilton and Thomas to take the carries next year. The problem is they both seem to get hurt fairly easy. LT would be a nice 3 headed monster.

I'd take LT over Hamilton or Bell, but he's probably gonna want more money than the FO is willing to pay for a 30yr old back. We'll see what happens.
I watched LT's live news conference today. He was emotional. You could tell his heart was broke for being let go. I hope where ever he ends up that he gets a chance to run all over SD next season.

I've read this tweet over and over and I don't see ANYWHERE where it says LT will be a Saint next year. I'm not saying it won't happen, I just don't see what everyone's getting all worked up about, saying things like, "If Drew wants him on the team, he WILL be on the team. Drew gets what he wants." <--- This is an actual quote from a FB friend.

Might as well let Brees help give all of his pals a Lombardi before they retire right?

Im all for it if it keeps Brees motivated and happy.
Right now Brees is somewhat in a God-like Status in New Orleans, if he don't get what he wants, somebody is getting hung..

I think given a new set of circumstances, a good O-line & the right combo of QB & overall offense LT could be awesome in black & gold.

Anyone know if the Saints have scheduled a physical and/or workout with LT?

I guess one would be coming soon if they are serious about possibly signing him.

Also heard today on NFLN that the Houston Texans may be interested in him.
