Reebok hit with suit over ‘Finish Strong’ shirt!

The New Orleans Saints’ Super Bowl-winning season has led to a trademark dispute involving the team’s unofficial 2009 motto and two manufacturers of athletic wear.

In a suit filed in Chicago federal court, Finish Strong LLC claims trademark infringement by Reebok International LLC, which manufactured and marketed a T-shirt using the “Finish Strong” mantra that Saints quarterback Drew Brees adopted during the 2009 NFL season.

Finish Strong claims it has had a registered trademark on the phrase since 1998 and uses it in a branded line of apparel including T-shirts, pants, skirts and shirts.

The Reebok T-shirt carries the slogan: “We Finish Strong! We Are Saints.”

The suit, filed Thursday, asks for Reebok to turn over all profits from the shirt to Naperville, Ill.-based Finish Strong, plus unspecified damages.

Is it me or does Drew seem to get caught-up in disputes regarding money frequently?

Didn't he have some dispute with his own mother over money? I mean...how much is enough?

Why allow another company to collect millions on your product and leave you face down in the dirt to get raped?
Reebok would have done the samething to drew brees two folds had it been one of their trademarks or products he was selling.
And he sued his mom because she used his name and his popularity, and photo's for candidacy for a Texas appeals court.
He didn't want to be involved in her politics and had told her many times to stop before he moved in to force her to stop, he felt he was being misrepresented on her behalf.
He know his way around the low as well as the field he grew up and was raised by a lawyer.

Nowhere in that article says that Drew is involved in the suit, other than him adopting the "finish strong" mantra from the title of the book written by the founder of Finish Strong LLC, and that being the reason for Reebok to print the shirts.

It has nothing to do with either the NFL or Drew Brees. The subject line of this thread is completely erronious and was made so for shock value. I think one of the mods needs to remove it or change the subject line.

It's the Finish Strong LLC suing Reebok. Not Drew Brees or the NFL. Drew Brees adopted their wording for his mantra We are Saints We finish strong. At least that's what I got from this.
