Anderson as Brees backup?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Carolina fans HATE Delhomme. I know, I hear it daily. He can claim to be a Carolina Cajun all he wants, but no one here claims him and I don't want the Saints to claim him either. He's a jerk ...

Derek Anderson has all the tools to start in this league. Too bad he was stuck in Cleveland. St. Louis should take a chance on him. He would make a great backup here though.
I think he hates the Saints because he didn't get to start. Truly, with his attitude, I don't think he could ever really take the backseat to anyone again without a lot of resentment. I'm not sure he'd be an asset in any wayn in the organization.

Good. They can have him, and I'll wish him well...in Cleveland.

You know, he said he will always be partial to the Panthers for giving him a chance to start, but if memory serves it was an injury there that put him in the lineup. Even the Panthers didn't start him until they HAD to.

If we're going to bring somebody in, that person needs to have an upside going forward.

Do we really want a guy who, #1. Hates the Saints, and has made it very apparent, and #2. Promised his undying loyalty to one of our division rivals.? I think not. Let him go somewhere else. He HAD his chance to start for the Saints, and he got beat out by Brooks. Put all the blame you want on Haslett, but MAYBE, just MAYBE, he blew it his damn self.

I remember Jake's inconsistency, more than I remember his upsides. He tore the Cowboys up in the Christmas game, back in 99, and then sucked it big time the following week. I have no faith in this guy, at all, or anyway.

Anderson isn't going to be a back up guys. Too many teams needing potential starters, i.e. Arizona, Seattle, Rams, Raiders, hell even Tampa Bay might be interested in pushing their second year rook, for playing time.

Agreed and thanks ya'll for posting some facts and not comfort, feel-good thoughts about JD being from LA.

Best thing and hardest thing is for Saints scounts to find that young, cheap, QB with potential that they can mold .

You guys don't want Anderson.

As you can see from burning his bridges out of Cleveland, this guy lets his emotions get the best of him and it translates directly to his play. Hes as thin skinned as it gets. Start off well and he might have an adequate performance. Start off poorly and get used to his 36.1 QB ratings.

now......when there were WRs in cleveland like edwards and winslow, anderson had a solid year.......not to mention his running game worked well and his guards werent complete garbage

now hes got eric steinbach who should be a stud but cant figure out whether to block the guy head up on him or to block the guy behind him.....more often than not he doesnt block anybody

their running game was absolutely terrible at the beginning of the season and the WRs led the league in dropped balls

remember that game DA went 2-17 passing.......yea how many of those passes were dropped? im going to say 10 and give them the benefit of the doubt cuz it was almost all of them

u cant expect a QB with 1 good offensive lineman and no running game to have a good season AT ALL......and who the **** cheers when someone gets hurt.......only browns fans could pull that off

im all for my brownies makin moves to get better but the only thing thats going to make them better is strong leadership(fujita) cuz without that they are in the ****house again this year

oh and if they pick that terrible corner over dez bryant they might as well call it a season right off the bat cuz they aint goin anywhere

"deal with it or you can go play the saints and get trounced by 30 and you won't have to worry about it."-colin cowherd
