The story was broken recently that close to 1,200 season ticket holders for the New Orleans Saints may end up losing their seats. Their seats aren't being taken away so much as they're actually being eliminated for a new press box and some suites to be put into the Superdome.

Is this unfair or simply a casualty of progress?

Well, the fans losing their seats think it is nothing but wrong and they are looking for your support. The Saints' organization recently started calling the fans whose seats would be eliminated and letting them know of the situation. Said fans were also advised that they would be moved to the front of the line for the season ticket waiting list that is some 50,000 people long.

Yeah, that sucks. Just imagine the profit those ticket holders lose from selling their seats after a Superbowl win...

Seems wrong to me. But I am not a NOS ST holder, so what do I know? All I have is my experience as a ST holder previously in other sports and I would have been thoroughly choked if I got shifted with no alternative immediate seating offered.

Surely ST holders must be 1st for top treatment, no?

Just read that Saints are adding 3500 seats in the Dome after next season.

I've never been a season ticket holder either, but I still see the disappointment here by those losing their tickets. I mean...I understand the thoughts of big business and progress and all that, but something can be done here right?

And 3,500 seats added?? Really??? Where??

If those people can immediately be relocated to some nice seats and the Saints are able to add their suites, it's a win-win situation for both..

IF I were in charge I'd compensate with allowing Patrons to buy the new seats at the same prices they bought their original seats, season tickets holders same applys. Just because The Lombardi resides in New Orleans doesnt mean they should turn up the prices

I too am not a season ticket holder, and I don't know what type of paperwork is done when purchasing season tickets, but do you people who are season ticket holders see this as a breech of contract? Just wondering.

I guess they have to capitalize on the recent success and create more boxes if they can finally sell them all to ensure the longtime economic stability for teh team. Do believe however that the people that have their seats taken away should get new ones when they add the new 3500.

They should be allowed to purchase the new seats when available at a discount, I would say. If I'm reading it correctly, they should have first right of refusal for the new seats.

I'm pretty sure the new seats when added will be in the plaza level so there is no way they are going to offer them cheap. But what I think the Saints should do is offer a standing room ticket at least for the opener when the banner is dropped.

Thats not a bad idea at all. Spread the out around the dome not to make it too crowded.

When they built the interstate across the basin people whined about that too in the beginning. Price of progress. Some folks always get the short end of the stick. Shame, but how it is.

There will be seats for them elsewhere, is my guess.

Try that in Oakland.

I don't understand? Why repay the loyalty of season ticket holders like this? Everyone keeps saying 'It's a business, it's a business' not only in ths situation but in companies all over the world and use it to justify why they will stiff those that really don't deserve it. It is WRONG, WRONG,WRONG!!' And for a new press box!? What the hell is going on out there? Among the reasons the team won the Lombardi was for the fans and the city. The top bods seem to be using this trophy as a reason to start making money. I would be so angry if I was a season ticket holder.

what a crock of bull****. exactly WHAT is wrong with the Superdome, that we gotta rip up a bunch of seats and add more glass and people in suits???? WTF????

God I hate change. what is the obsession with endlessly changes and upgrades? what was broke in the Superdome exactly? Where does it not work????

The field works. The roof works. The lights work. The plumbing works. The goal posts work. JUST STOP ****ING WITH EVERYTHING AND PLAY FOOTBALL. I dont need Disneyland. I just want to watch football games. Its FINE like it is. Just leave it alone.
