Payton's News Conference. WWL 870 AM

Payton's News Conference.

Commends scouts. Grade matched the round.
Good size and speed. Good ball skills. Very productive at Fla St.
Exicted adding a good player. CB is a valued position. Talked about last years CB injuries hurt team.
CB is not a luxry position. Wanted to address cause of injuries last year.
CB needs to be a solid positon. You saw the difference last year.
Position is hard to find in Free Agency. Secondary rounding out.
Very young in secondary.

Too early to say how he will be used. Can't wait to sort out the options in the defense backfield.

Has more rounds for a couple of positions are of need. Did not specify.

Every since Sean Payton got here he's been trying to upgrade our corners. I hope he's happy now and can focus on, oh I don't know, maybe the defensive line.

Pretty much what I would have expected him to say after what I consider to be a reach at #32. I find it hard to believe Patrick Robinson was the best player available, as Loomis previously claimed would be our draft strategy.

Maybe he should have been saying: We were dumbass's tonight and while we have good depth at corner now, it's a good thing that their fast, so that they can catch the other team's running backs when they blast through our D line. Also. I hope to god there might be a DT of worth in the later rounds. If not. maybe i'll just put our new corner at DT. LOL

I listened and you can tell this was a insurance pick...and it really makes a lot sense...

it has not been our draft strategy since payton showed up

i have no idea why people continue to think that picking the best player available is an option at all

you simply dont do it

you dont pick a player that doesnt fill some sort of need

as for robinson.....probably the best corner left.....was he higher on their boards than the corners that went before him? what about the LBs that went before him?

nobody knows but we do know that he is going to be a saint
