I hope I am wrong and these guys turn out to be gems.
I'm not crazy about the QB pick, but now is about when we look at QB projects that will take 3 or 4 years to develop.

A 7th rounder is a tad much. I think we could have nabbed him as an UDFA.

But the rest of the draft was rock solid.

Re: Grade our draft

There is no doubt that the Saints drafted excellent players from the 32 position. Our early picks should all have been gone before we chose them, sometimes long before we chose them. We have real needs to fill, though, and we left our most glaring defensive holes wide open. If our team building were to stop here, I would call this draft a C. But I really doubt that it will stop here.

I think these were solid picks, and Im still holding out hope that an impact player on D can be picked up by trade. I gave it a C since it seemed the value was on the board at positions other than pressing needs.

Two can play that game... So are you saying our Punter is more important than Jonathan Vilma?
you vastly underestimate the importance of a good punter

just because they see the field less than other players does not make them less important

if anything it makes their job that much harder

drew gets 30 to 40 opportunities a game to do his job correctly

moorstead and hartley only get a handful of chances

especially for a defense that doesnt stop anybody and feeds off turnovers, making the other team drive the entire field is a huge deal

I give this draft a C. Only because I didn't see them as need positions and I didn't know diddlyu poo about any of them.

Yeah, that's why the 1st 3 or 4 rounds of every NFL draft is chock full of teams taking punters.

first 3 or 4 rounds arent chock full of centers or guards either but they are crucial to the success of teams

punters are very important to how a game turns out.....they dont make tackles or score points most of the time but in a game of inches, a guy who can punt the ball 50 yards in the air with a hangtime of 5 seconds is a stud and helps teams win

Re: Grade our draft

Ill give er a C. I mean we are the Super Bowl defending champs so its hard to pick up good players when you are picking last.

Re: Grade our draft

The way I see it we got the 5th best CB, 7th best OT, 4th best TE, 13th best DT, 3rd best C, and 15th best QB. To me, that carries a C grade, but the key with these guys is potential. Robinson, Brown, and Graham have tremendous upsides to them. As such, I would say B to B- overall.
