Christopher Ivory, Washington State, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

"03/20/2010 - Tiffin University football coach Dave Walkosky has business cards displayed on the desk in his office. The cards are from scouts of nine NFL teams. The scouts came to visit about running back Chris Ivory, who will enter the NFL Draft next month. He has an opportunity to be the program's first player to be selected in the draft. Walkosky said representatives from other teams have come to talk about the 5-11, 225-pound running back, who came to the Dragons last August after three seasons at Division I Washington State. In 2007, he worked with Walkosky, who was Washington State's special teams coordinator and cornerbacks coach. Ivory ran a 4.47 in the 40-yard dash, the fastest time among the players at the event - which included University of Toledo players Barry Church and Stephen Williams, as well as Dragons receiver Greg Raspberry. Walkosky said the injury made some wonder about Ivory's quickness. "Well, 4.47 is unbelievably fast enough [for the NFL]," Walkosky said. "It's top five in the country of running backs who were at the combine. And he's bigger than all the guys, except for one guy, the kid from Fresno [Ryan Mathews]." Ivory also had a vertical jump of 35 inches. "I knew I had to perform, but it was never really heavy on my mind," Ivory said. "I just went out and did what I do best. Like I said, I've been doing it for a long time. I've trained for it for a couple of months." While the performance certainly improves the chances of Ivory being drafted, Walkosky is sure of one thing. "He's gonna be in the camp," he said. "Six weeks from now he's going to have an NFL helmet on."

PULLMAN, Wash. — Running back Chris Ivory has been dismissed from the Washington State football team for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Ivory, a senior, gained 534 yards in a three-year WSU career limited by injuries.

Team spokesman Bill Stevens said Ivory attended the season-opening practice Sunday but was absent Monday. He was dismissed after Monday’s practice.

I looked at several stats...one stands out. 5 fumbles and 4 lost! Not to mention, Ivory seems injury prone.

Upside...good 40 time and kick returner!

Re: Chris Ivory, RB, Tiffin / Wash St.

New Orleans can now be referred to as the Ivory Coast,

Chris Ivory, a running back who played in five games for Tiffin University last season before a leg injury shelved him, signed with the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints on Saturday night.

The deal was in place hours after the NFL Draft concluded. There was hope Ivory might become the first TU player selected, but Tiffin coach Dave Walkosky said all along that the 6-foot, 228-pounder would get a shot in the NFL.

......

Ivory came to the Dragons from Division I Washington State, where Walkosky was an assistant in 2007. Walkosky worked with special teams, and used Ivory on kick returns.

Ivory's time in a Tiffin uniform was brief, but impressive. He rushed for 223 yards on 39 carries, a 5.7 rushing average. He suffered a season-ending leg injury in a game against Ashland at Frost-Kalnow Stadium.

Ivory has an opportunity to be the second Tiffin player to make it in the NFL. Receiver Nate Washington signed with the Steelers as a free agent after the 2005 draft, and went on to win a pair of Super Bowl rings there before signing with Tennessee before last season.

"I told Chris he's elevated our program," Walkosky said.

Ivory said he always stayed focused on reaching the next level.

"It just lets you know if you come in, work hard, keep your faith and stay humble, you can be picked up," he said.

They apparently called him while the draft was still going on from what he says in that linked article.

Looks like he has the size and numbers (when he was active in college, that is...) that the Saints are looking for, but he sounds very injury prone to me too. We'll see how he does in camp I guess...
