New Orleans Saints reportedly discussed trade for New York Giants defensive tackle Barry Cofield

An interesting draft nugget here from the NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, who reports that the Saints had some serious trade discussions with the New York Giants about restricted free agent defensive tackle Barry Cofield.
Eventually they passed, reportedly because they couldn't agree on a contract extension with Cofield, and they wound up drafting LSU nose tackle Al Woods in the fourth round. That doesn't mean they won't explore any more veteran options at the position, though.

Meanwhile, we'll take this time to reiterate that the Saints have never shown any serious interest in trading for Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Even if the Saints wanted him, they're not looking to spend that kind of money this offseason.
