The DA said that after reviewing 2 years of game tape, there was nothing to indicate Grant was capable of hitting anyone.

Quote:

"First of all, the charges against Charles were not reasonable to begin with," Tolley said. "To quote one of the witnesses, everybody down here wanted it to be Charles because he had resources. But that did not square with the evidence

"He did not fight. He did not shoot. And the evidence early on demonstrated that was the truth. The only people alleging that were people that had a financial interest in Charles being responsible."
Kinda says it all right there. Just too bad somebody had to die for stupid stuf flike that.

All sarcasm aside, Grant had a REALLY tough childhood that involved loosing his baby brother (in his arms). I've got a lot of respect for him... aside from his days of reeking havok in the backfield in his best years, I remember when the Saints were sliding following Haslett's debut year and the Aaron Brooks controversy was growing. Him and Brooks got in an altercation on a return flight home regarding Brooks lack of concern for the team struggling. Grant still had the taste for winning and as his passion outweighed his teammates, his frustration boiled over.

Unfortunately, he played well enough to land a fat contract and the spark was gone after.

As for his legal troubles.... it's the people he surrounds himself with. Not excusable at all but ya' know what the say, you can take a man out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto.... ah, nevermind.

I was heading through Slidell a couple years ago and just getting on I-10 from I-12.... right at the merge was a line of cars and a slew of cop cars. It looked like a caravan was pulled over and they had quite a few cops grouped with all the people from the cars. I was going really slow because they were right off the road... well, off to the side, walking between the cars was Charles - walking assertively, talking to cops, pointing.... kinda like he was "taking care of everything". You could tell he was using his celeb status to dictate the situation and all.

I kept thinking it'd show up on the news but never did. It might have been related to the shooting and all.... the direction they were coming from could have had them coming back from Miss. and he was with all his peeps. If it wasn't for him pretty much becoming mr irrelevant on the field, I'd always wonder if he was let go due to always getting in trouble behind the scenes.

I'm going to miss Grant. Nobody, and I mean nobody, got juicy fruit gum faster for the coach, than Grant..... Changed the entire game in my opinion.
