vaughn is a natural safety

im not trying to get into a debate because thats my only point

nobody has anymore of a point to debate that jenkins is more qualified either

its JMO that i think vaughn would be a better safety
But, Jenkins also played some safety in college. Sure it wasn't his natural position, but he did play the position. Vaughn has just played the position more.

P.S. I'm not leaning either way for either guy. I just like bantering with you. lol

That he can make plays in the NFL. Besides Vaughn was a SS that the Saints planned to groom into a FS. The same could be said for Jenkins.

I don't think there's any wrong opinion in the debate bc Williams likes players who can play multiple positions anyway.

I don't hear anyone going crazy over Jenkins. We've just seen more of him both on Defense and Special Teams. He's made some solid plays and he's looked like a rookie at times.

What's wrong with speculating that he'll be a great player anyway? Don't we say that about other players here all the time??

True,

In Jenkins we have a promising rookie CB who played a lot of NB/DB last season. He is likely capable of playing the FS spot very well. Best upside of all 3.

In Vaughn we have a promising rookie who was looking good in TC (according to the coaches) before a minor injury. He also appears to be a capable replacement. A little young and probably needs some further development, but he is loaded with potential.

In Young we have a converted CB who played his 1st season as a FS last year. He has all the tools and looks like we can get by with him if necessary

All 3 players have huge upside as FS's, and I'm 99% positive at least one would step up and shine in Gregg Williams' system.

Re: Jenkins, Vaughn or Young

i kinda want to see the size of chip, but jenkins made some good plays last year, and young is basically the new fred mcafee.. a special teamer for life, no offense he can come in for a few plays, but do you really want him starting more then 1-2 games? as for jenkins and vaughn... thats a toss up, whoever is faster, and more solid tackler gets my vote... if it helps i started chip on my madden and he did pretty good hahaha

Who stepped in for him last year? It was Young, and that's who it would be if he was to go down again. Jenkins is a CB.

LOL @ Jenkins hasn't done anything. Granted it's been at corner but in our system the line between free safety and corner gets rather blurry. Go watch the 3rd and 4th quarter of the SB for a good example. Guy made some great deflections in the play offs as well.

A few more inches on a play right before the pick 6 and it would have been Jenkins with the winning TD.

However, when he did step in last time I think he got burned for a TD. I was a big fan of his in the beginning but less so each passing year. I hope he has it together this year. I was pulling for him to make the switch to safety.

Young won't be a starter for New Orleans. Ever. He's a ST player with backup potential. That's it.

I voted for Jenkins, but the more I think about it, I'm going with Vaughn. Jenkins and Robinson can play nickel and dime.
