The return of Mike McKenzie to the Saints in their super season was both magical and brief - so brief, that McKenzie was no longer on the roster when the Saints won the Super Bowl. But McKenzie says his Super Bowl happened weeks earlier on a fateful Monday night

“My Super Bowl was the first game I showed back up against the New England Patriots,” McKenzie said. “And just having that opportunity to be back with my teammates and to be back in the Superdome, and to hear the cheers — especially when the game meant so much because people still didn’t want to give us the credit. They were like, they’re not sure if we’re for real. But, I think after that New England Patriots game, everyone knew that we were for real, that we were serious. And, for me to have a chance to take a part in that game, it meant the world to me. It made my season.”

They should have enough rings for everyone who was a part of the active roster during the season. That NE game was BIG! and Mike's part in that game was BIG! Add that to all the other blood, sweat, and tears...Mike earned his ring.

It would be a horrible injustice if Mike doesn't get a ring. I was so hyped when we got him from GB, and I was equally sad to see his time with us end, especially the 'way' it happened. Maybe he's no Deuce, but for a while he was one of only a handful of real defenders we had. I'll be hissed off pretty good if they don't include him.

MM almost single handedly took over the defense in that game. He was so very aggressive, it was great to see him playing like there was no tomorrow.(unfortunately for him that was almost the case) The only drawback that I ever saw with him was the shoulder tackle with no wrap up on the defender. The defensive secondary had a problem tackling while he was here. It seemed to rub off on the rest of the defense. Anyway......give the man a ring he earned it!
