I've mentioned this in the past, but now I'm starting to wonder if my memory is correct. Does anyone remember around the time the Superdome originally opened that there was talk about making NO and the Dome the permanent spot for the SB? If anyone else remembers this, pleas let me know because I'm almost positive I remember talk like that.

If I could afford the tickets I would not care where it was played and actually I would like it to be somwhere cold. Weather should be a factor in football.

Hate to say this, but I told you so. With all of these new state of the art facilities to choose from, it's going to be hard for New Orleans to get as many superbowls as they are used too. When the new 49er stadium opens up I guarantee you it will be out here alot. Also, if that new stadium in L.A. gets built, which right now it looks like its going to happen, then it will also be a big target, due to all of the stars it would attract. Sorry guys, the city might be the perfect spot to host, but with these new stadiums, that can hold way more people, the NFL is going to think of itself first, and the city second.

Huh? I need an explanation on why SunLife Stadium (Miami) is still in Rotation and only 9 years younger than the Superdome..

You are right in some ways but after Renovations The Superdome will be re-marketable for Superbowl bids every other bid..

We already have the Superbowl 2013. it would be totally unfair to have the Superdome Host 2014 thats why it wasn't on the list for this selection process, hopefully after all of the fancy renovations and the Big upgrades being done around the Benson Tower with Outside area and tailgating and Sports entertainment hotels and such the city can put it's self in regular bid contest along with the fancy newer stadiums..
We beat University of Phoenix Stadium (A BRAND NEW STADIUM) and Sunlife Stadium -Miami for the 2013 bid, Benson tried to get 2012 but the state and Saints org didn't have the agreement nailed down at the time so New Orleans was a no-no obviously, a couple of weeks after the agreement was official we won the 2013 Bid, that Old 1985 Stadium Beat out all of those fancy new billion dollar stadiums lol..

2015 will probably put some new stadiums in the bid, and London might even get in the mix who knows, but there are talks about it happening, but hopefully New Orleans get that one too..

In 2014 New Orleans will have hosted 10 Superbowls which will tie with Miami, Miami hosted their tenth Superbowl this year, if Katrina wouldn't have been a factor New Orleans would probably be about to host it's 11th or 12th Superbowl in the future...
With New Orleans im thinking the League owners really don't care about having the fancy crap in stadiums they like the convenience, the ambiance and the way the city is arranged to host such events, the whole city acts as a ball room in a way, everything is easy to get too, and the food and entertainment all over the place is superb, they like how "We" (The city) does it, not how the Stadium does.. all the stadium is for is putting butts in seats to watch the game and make some money, Before and after the games is where people get their kicks, thats why other cities hate when Miami and New Orleans throw their hats in to host, They could have the most expensive structure on the planet with all the plasma TV's in the world, but they still can't do it like New Orleans can and they do hate it when we win em..

Look, Eventually we're going to have to leave the Superdome, but i think it still has life, at least another 15 years in her until it's time to leave the nest and make a new one, im glad we're waiting for all of these new stadiums to be built, by the time we're ready to get a new stadium we'll be one of few cities building another Landmark type of Stadium, we did it with the Superdome, now lets wait for all of these other cities to do their thing, we'll watch and see how big and bad their new toys are, and then we'll pull off building another incredible structure that will win over the NFL world, Can you imagine what type of materials and Architecture designs that we'll be able to use by then? we'll be on some Jetson's/Back to the Future type of stadium, while other cities are already locked in their stadium deals and unable to build for the next 30-50 years, we'll be building brand new, new style, futuristic, craziness that will not be ignored just like the Superdome was.. I can wait on it, none of the New Stadiums out impress me but the University of Phoenix stadium anyway, the Screen in the Dallas Stadium is the only eye catching thing they have, so meh.. i'll wait for some New Blood Architect to put New Orleans on the map again with some crazy design no one else thought of and make other cities copy us lol..

I remember years ago there was some talk about putting NO into a permanent rotation with Miami, LA and one other city selected by the owners, but I don't ever remember serious discussions on NO being a permanent spot for the SB.

I voted Tampa. We play there at least once a year so our players are familiar with the field. New York? No way, too cold. It would be a huge advantage for a northern latitude squad.

This is the first I've heard about this. When was this decided?

It's not just the stadiums themselves bro, it's luxury boxes, it's local corporations, and also city populations. That's the reason why the NFL, MLB, and the NBA, are always harping on small market teams, being in the championship games, because the revenue isn't has much as it is for teams in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Anyone remember the last time the Superbowl was in LA? 1993. Cowboys vs Bills. Now, the Rose Bowl holds like 100,000 people. The new stadium, according to what I've read, will hold that many, while providing luxury seating, big screens, and more VIP boxes, than you can shake a stick at. Yes, the host city, is very important. Have you ever been to L.A. in February? The weather, unless it's raining, is absolutely gorgeous.

I'm not saying it won't come back to New Orleans, after 2013. What I am saying, is that with these more state of the art stadiums under construction, in cities that can have outside games, rather than in a dome, N.O. will not be getting as many bids as it's used too. It's pretty hard to set off fireworks in a dome right? Not to mention the jets have a hard time doing fly overs....

Maybe that's what I'm remembering...thanks.

Well, the debate is over, as New York gets the bid. That should be a helluva game, depending on who gets in. Watch there be like ten feet of snow now.....
