Pat Yasinskas on P. Thomas' future

I think there is a ZERO percent chance of us just letting Pierre go, but I thought I would let you guys know what he said.

Pat Yasinskas: I’m not sure this little holdout is really in Pierre Thomas’ best interest. I understand he wants a long-term contract and his performance last season probably earned him a nice raise. But the rumblings are he’s looking for a contract that will make him one of the league’s top-paid running backs. Let’s be realistic here. Thomas is a good running back, but not one of the best in the league. I can see the Saints playing hard ball with him. They’ve got Reggie Bush and Lynell Hamilton. If Thomas’ demands don’t drop some, I could see the Saints letting him go and going with Bush and Hamilton and adding another running back from somewhere else.

Lets face it Running Back are not what they once were. There not the spot light players anymore. Quaterbacks and WR are the player you come to see.

I hope he stays but it won't shock me he doesn't.

Yeah, but having a good runningback that knows the system and plays very well in it doesn't hurt matters. I don't agree with what he is asking for and he definitely won't get it, but I would feel more comfortable with him back there than anyone else that may be available.

Yo to be honest- he is not worth that type of money. Hope he changes his mind on this one- if not he might be gone. He is not one of the tops in the league. I love the guy, and he deserves more money, but shoot, come on

Shame if PT is really playing hard ball. I really would like him to stay on.

Sharper did the same thing before he signed, trust in Loomis to do what is best for the team but in the end I hope PT resigns just at the right price

Unless you're a team that doesn't have a decent QB or if they're a run heavy offense. I'd say there is just as much comradery and fanfare for RB's across the league as there is any other position. If our own Reggie Bush was just as productive as a Chris Johnson or an A.P., I wonder if you would feel the same?

Also, was there any other player behind Brees that was more productive, consistent, universally used, clutch and accountable than Pierre? It sounds like you're saying RB's aren't as appreciated, fans want to see the QB's and WR's, therefor he's that much more expendable?

I'm glad you're not calling shots, and Loomis doesn't loose sight on how they made their SuperBowl run.
