Bushrod's grip tightens on starting job??

Jermon Bushrod has been running uncontested for the New Orleans Saints' starting left tackle job so far this offseason.

Presumably, veteran Jammal Brown will return at some point and try to get his old job back after spending all of last season on injured reserve. And if that happens, it will easily become the most compelling position battle on the depth chart.

But for now, Brown remains unsigned as a restricted free agent, holding out for a long-term contract offer from the Saints or possibly another team willing to trade for him.
And for now, Bushrod is still the starting left tackle of the defending Super Bowl champs.

Payton did go on to say that if/when Brown returns he would immediately split time with Bushrod.

I think the competition will be beneficial for BOTH players.

Yea, but Brown wants starter money. The big question is whether the Saints want to pay him RT starter salary. I think if he resigns, it will end up being for 1 year.

You are probably right ... they drafted his replacement already ... would he sign for one year anyway? I'm still leaning towards trading him for a stud player on defense and a draft pick.... I mean, if the team has already mentally moved on anyway.

I think Bushrod will improve and make this a no-brainer.
