Who's the best coach ever in the young NFC South?

Time to weigh in: Best coach in history? - NFC South Blog - ESPN

This news clip gives me/us a thought provoking moment! Who is indeed the best ever coach of this young division? Is it Sean Payton, in light of the Super Bowl season? I vote for him. What say you?

Well, if Super Bowls won in the NFC South is the deciding factor, that's a pretty short list. That said, I'll take SP over Chuckie.

The division has had some very good coaches. All teams have been fairly solid in the coaching department, maybe the one exception is Bobby Petrino who almost succeeded in completely destroying the Falcons. As for the best so far, can make very strong cases for John Fox and Jon Gruden, Mike Smith also looks good so far, of course my money is on Sean Payton. Have to give it to the guy who took a team coming off a horrible season, and bringing them to the NFC Championship game. Of course now that Sean Payton has a Super Bowl win, have to give it to him for now.

Agreed. They'll run Fox out of Carolina before he has a chance to fix the mistake that was Jake...or will they? He created that little monster, so...

Sean gets my vote, as I attempt to be a non-biased as possible, but Fox is right there.

Tough between Gruden and SP. I'd give the edge to SP. Gruden has been around longer as a HC but one could argue he won his SB with a lot of Dungy guys and staff.

SP came in and completely rebuilt from the ground up. So i say SP.

I know who's the craftiest, the most cunning, the most inventive, and the one with the biggest kahoonas! Does that count?

Tough one. In my mind, it's either Gruden or Payton. Gruden did win a Super Bowl with Brad Johnson as his quarterback, but his strength was his defense. Payton won a Super Bowl with a mediocre (if not opportunistic) defense, but it was one of the greatest offensive minds of this generation.

Well, let's also look at the fact that the Raiders coach after Gruden was fired, got a free ride to the Superbowl, with the team that Gruden built. So turn about is fair play. I gotta be a homer on this one. Mr. Payton, you are the man!

Does it have to be a headcoach because I wanna say Monte Kiffin.
