Claytion at it Again: Matt Ryan an Elite QB

So I read this write up and got all pissy, then I put things into perspective. Clayton lists 14 Elite QBs presently playing. LMAO @ 14 elite QBs! That's almost have the league dumba**! Defeats the purpose of the word "elite" - but I guess if you define it as anyone who can complete a pass more than 50% of the time, fine Ryan is elite. (chuckles)

Some other funny statements from the article:
- With Peyton Manning's height, Tom Brady's style and Drew Brees' smarts, Matt Ryan had the look of an elite quarterback the first time he stepped onto the field in Atlanta Falcons colors.
MY GOD THIS MADDEN MADE QB!

- "I've never seen a quarterback actually work that hard in the weight room." - Roddy White

Well, Roddy, considering you've only been around lazy Vick and Ryan I don't know that you're much of an expert.

- Plus, things are coming together in the Falcons' offense. White, no longer embroiled in a contract dispute, has worked with Ryan the entire offseason. Running back Micheal Turner is trimmer and healthier and should be better than last season, and Douglas' return to slot receiver should make Atlanta more efficient.
So if he has all this greatness around him is he all that elite? Try throwing for over 5k yards with lil to no run game and a weak defense. Brees did.

**Link is giving me issues - it's front page of ESPN/NFL section**

Sportcasters have to say good things about huge media markets since it pays the bills.

Technically Atlanta isn't a major market for the NFL but it is middle tier. Mostly I think Clayton is trying to jump on a bandwagon early. All the tea leaves point to ATL having a break out year. But people have been saying Houston will over take the Colts for a few years now too.

Ryan has all the tools to become an elite QB, but he is not there yet. I would say at this point Ryan is maybe somewhere in the top third, but not elite just yet. Right now I don't think Ryan is in the Brees, Manning, or Brady class. He really needs a couple of great years to get there, needs to pull QB ratings to at least the mid 90 area for next two years, and at least go very deep into the playoffs.

Matt Ryan is a very good QB. He had one great year or one very good year. Lets see what he can do this year. He's NO Drew Brees.

Disagree. His numbers last year were average. Good QB yes, but not great and certainly not elite.

Matt Ryan is going to be a force to deal with for a while. He's good but he's no Drew Brees.
