New Orleans Saints training camp around the corner
 

New Orleans Saints fans will have plenty of chances to see the team practice when training camp begins July 30.


The Saints released their training camp schedule Monday, and the team will open camp to the public 22 times this summer -- weather permitting -- at the team's training facility on Airline Drive. The first two practices July 30 are open to the public.

Practices open to the public on the opening weekend of training camp are July 30 and July 31 from 8:50-11 a.m. and 4:20-5:45 p.m. The Saints' lone practice Aug. 1 is open to the public from 3:20-5:45 p.m.

The Black and Gold Scrimmage will take place Aug. 7, though a place and time have not been set. The Saints will then travel to New England two days later for four practices against the Patriots leading up to their first preseason game at New England on Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
The Houston Texans will practice against the Saints four times (Aug. 18-19) before the teams square off in a preseason game Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Superdome.

The morning practices Aug. 18-19 are open to the public.
The Saints will host one more preseason game -- Aug. 27 against the San Diego Chargers at 7 p.m. -- and break camp Aug. 30 with a morning practice open to the public and a closed afternoon practice.
The Saints' final preseason game is Sept. 2 at Tennessee. The Saints open the regular season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Superdome in a rematch of last year's NFC championship game.

If I am down that way in August, I will definitely make my way to Airline Drive and watch all the busy little bees try to make more honey. That last batch was pretty sweet.
