Jeremy Shockey misses 2nd straight New Orleans Saints practice
Jeremy Shockey did not practice for the second consecutive day as the New Orleans Saints continue to take a cautious approach with his sore knee.
As the Saints trudged through a third consecutive day of record heat at training camp, Shockey was noticeably absent from the morning workout. He was held out of Sunday's workout for precautionary reasons.
Saints coach Sean Payton said tests on the injury have shown no structural damage. He said he hopes to have Shockey back in two days.
"We're just backing off his snaps a little," Payton said.
Shockey injured the knee against the Arizona Cardinals in the divisional playoffs last year. He was limited by it but managed to play in both the NFC Championship Game and Super Bowl. It is unknown if Shockey had any procedures performed on the injured leg in the offseason.
Later on Monday, Shockey posted a message on Twitter saying that he bumped knees with teammates in practice, and that "All is good!"
The Saints also held out defensive end Jimmy Wilkerson from the morning workout on Monday. Wilkerson had offseason knee surgery and is being monitored like several other veterans on the roster.
