Florio must be on suicide watch, along with all the other ViQueens fans.
Personally I'll believe when Jackson takes the first snap of our game against them....even then Favre may return for the 2nd half. HA!

They're still waiting on official confirmation, but it's looking like he's done.

He is done. Can you say 11 in the box to shut down AP in the first game of the season? The NFL must be pissed about this. They picked that Viking/Saints opener with Favre returning in mind.

Saints are going to throttle the Viqueens at home now! TWO DAT just got a lot easier.

Re: Brett Favre to Retire!

Wow the Saints did a number on him.

Report: Favre informs Vikings officials he will retire

NKATO, Minn. -- A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Brett Favre has informed the Vikings he will not return to Minnesota for a second season.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Tuesday because the team had not made an official announcement. The person says the 40-year-old Favre called coach Brad Childress to say his injured ankle is not responding as well to surgery and rehabilitation as he had hoped.

Favre also told the Vikings last year he wouldn't play for them but ultimately changed his mind and joined the team immediately after it broke training camp.

Favre injured his ankle in the NFC championship, which the Vikings lost to the New Orleans Saints.

Say it aint so Brett... Oh well... there's always next year.

When the playoffs started last year I said I wanted to retire Warner, retire Favre and beat Manning, so they couldn't say we
lucked into the Superbowl title.

Got all three!!!

It comes down to being able to walk- he was afraid that would not be possible after week 1 of this season.

Saw someone post this comment on a Kevin Seifert article about Favre on ESPN just a few minutes ago. I'm glad I wasn't drinking anything at the time, because I would have spit it all over my laptop:

"Pacing back and forth as he decides retirement, Favre accidentally completes Redskins conditioning test."

Great QB. Great career. Got a ring. First ballot HOF. Records. Admiration. Respect. Smart move Brett. I know you want to keep going, but it is far better to have your health at 50 than 1 more super bowl ring.

Re: Brett Favre to Retire!

If Favre makes his "retirement" announcement at a news conference later, as expected, then there is a 50-50 chance that he will actually retire.

It is more serious than trivial this time, with the way Vikings management is scrambling around like chickens with their heads cut off. They have offered Favre more $$$ to come back. But, I think whether its $20 million, or the $13 million his contract calls for, if his ankle hasn't healed properly, this may be it.

Or maybe Bobby McCray will drive to Kiln and beg him to show up for the game Sept 9.

When (if) he makes his official announcement, I'm hoping he cries again.

I don't care if that makes me an evil b*tch, it's funny as hell! :D

Family insider: Brett Favre still mulling retirement decision

Brett Favre has not yet made a decision on whether to return to the Minnesota Vikings for the 2010 NFL season, an unnamed person close to Favre's family told the Biloxi Sun Herald.

Earlier Tuesday, the AP, Fox Sports and Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Favre had informed the Vikings that he had opted against playing.

"Brett has not made a commitment to play or a decision to return at this point," the Favre insider told the Sun-Herald.

Favre's brother, Scott Favre, also spoke to the Sun-Herald. "I have heard no truth to that (retirement)," Scott Favre said. "I know he can still play and I want him to keep playing."

Vikings coach Brad Childress denied after Tuesday morning's practice that Favre had told him he would be retiring. He called the situation "very fluid."

Yeah ... I know ... it's insane .... as stated previously... we'll believe it when we see it.

He could be trying to fake us and the Saints into thinking he won't be there .... as if it would really matter anyway.
