New England Patriots vs. New Orleans Saints

It's just about official as the New Orleans Saints will get ready to take the field for the first time as the defending Super Bowl champions. Sure it's only going to be in preseason, but that doesn't make it any less exciting for the team and the "Who Dat Nation" back home in Louisiana.

One thing kind of puts a damper on this whole situation though and that's the loss of running back Lynell Hamilton. The back-up was in line to replace Mike Bell (signed by Philadelphia) in the three-man rotation at running back for the Saints, but went down with an injury Wednesday in practice.

Both the Patriots and Saints were doing a very light practice session with just touch-and-go defense, but Hamilton didn't even need the extra push to be gone for the season. He planted his foot awkwardly and tore the ACL in his right knee landing him on injured reserve (IR). He was having a tremendous training camp so far and looked as if he would be an integral part of the number one offense in the NFL.
