Sean Payton wants to re-ignite players and fans!: New Orleans Saints to open 2010 season with a parade.

The opening of the 2010 season is less than a month away now and the New Orleans Saints are ready to step onto the field of the Superdome as the defending Super Bowl champions. A NFC Championship game rematch with the Minnesota Vikings will begin the season and see it kicked off in style.

Speaking of style, this is New Orleans you know?

Doing it the only way the city knows how, New Orleans and the Saints celebrated the victory in Super Bowl XLIV with a parade appropriately labeled "Lombardi Gras." Now they're going to have a second parade to help with the NFL 2010 Kickoff that includes a concert in Jackson Square before the game. The concert will have pop star Taylor Swift and the Dave Matthews Band.

"Given New Orleans' tradition of parades and music and food and football, we decided to combine all those things into a single celebration," said NFL Senior Vice President of Events Frank Supovitz. "The Krewe of NFL Kickoff Parade."

I think he would get a better result if on the opening game we demolish the Vikings. JMO!

Maybe I am seeing this all from the wrong perspective. If so someone please put me back on the right path.

Yes, I am as happy as the rest of you they finally won a SuperBowl. But this high school type of parade before game one???? You always hear about how teams are going to forget about last year and focus on THIS year. I know they are happy. Hell, we are happy!

But I will tell you what scares me the most, folks.

The Saints lossing game one.

I can already hear NFLN and ESPNSC saying, "Well Saints fans, the dream is over. Time to wake back up." I can already hear them saying it.

I just want them to be focused and to prove to the doubter's, YES, last year was no F'IN FLUKE! SHUT UP all you haters and choke on our swag!

So if I am feeling wrong about this, please, someone help me to see the light.

If we lose game one - then we lose. It is not the end of a season.

TRUE it would suck A LOT but....

Anything coach Payton wants to I'm on board with.

hmmmm,,,,,,hate to say it..,,wish coach would instead focus on getting the team ready for upcoming season....but then again a little fun might be just the thing that kicks the Saints into high gear.

Play football, not games. Last season is over, This season is only 24 days away. I'm like SapperSaint, Ignite me by pulverizing the Vikings on opening night. We raise the banner that night, lets do it right, with a win. Get back to the practice field and we'll watch you parade out of the tunnel onto the field on Thursday night.

Hmmm, I think of it as more of a pep rally than a celebration of last year. Something to get everyone juiced up even more for opening nite. The SD is gonna be insane!
