Danneaux’s 53 man Roster

My 53 man roster, subject to change because I always forget someone, or change my mind…

QB - 3 - Brees / Ramsey / Daniel
RB - 4 - Thomas / Bush / Ivory / Betts
FB - 1 - Evans
TE - 3 - Shockey / Thomas / Graham
OL-S - 5 - Bushrod / Nicks / Goodwin / Evans / Stinchcomb
OL-BU - 3 - Brown / Tennant / Strief
WR - 6 - Colston / Meachem / Moore / Henderson / Arrington / Roby

DT - 4 - Ellis / Ayodele / Hargrove / Pressley
DE - 4 - Smith / Brown / Wilkerson / Gallett
OLB - 4 - Shanle / Casillas / Dunbar / Evans
MLB - 3 - Vilma / Mitchell / Arnoux
CB - 5 - Greer / Porter / Robinson / Gay / Jones
S - 5 - Sharper / Harper / Jenkins / Young / Vaughn

K - 1 - Hartley
P - 1 - Morstead
LS - 1 - Kyle

Key cuts – Prielou, Reis, Al Wood, PJ Hill, Waters

We may keep 9 O-linemen, meaning we cut the 4th RB or 6th WR

We keep Pressley over Wood. I think they can sneak Wood onto the practice squad.

We may decide to keep Charleston, which mean we probably risk losing Reggie Jones. Placing Sharper on the PUP changes things

Well thought out Danno, and I could live with that. I think other teams will pluck players like Charleston, Wood, Pressley & Arrington from our Superbowl roster.

You've done a great job with your 53. I can't suggest many changes to that, but I'll through out my preferred practice squad.

RB-Chris Ivory
WR-Larry Beavers
OT-Jeremey Parnell
OG-Brandon Carter
DE-Junior Galette
DT-Jay Ross
LB/SS-Harry Coleman
CB-Reggie Jones

Obviously my practice squad suggests there would be some differences in my 53, but not many.

No way Galette and Ivory would make it thru the waiver wire...swap Hill for Ivory...

You might be right about those guys. After losing Hill last year I wouldn't expect him to stick around long either, though.

I just think Gallett has the pass rush ability gregg Williams can use as a lethal weapon on passing situations.

I think Williams has some big plans for him in certain packages. You can basically pull a Jeff Charleston off the street or off someone's practice squad, but guys with pass rush skills like Gallett's are hard to find.

I do like Jeff Charleston, he's "good" at just about everything, but great at nothing.

Good show, Danno. Looks good to me. I would like to see Hill beat out Betts if there is room for a fourth RB.

The WR's cuts will be tough. When I first looked at your list I thought that Roby should have been left off but after consideration I think that the guy is a great special-teamer, worthy of a roster spot.

I haven't seen much of Woods at the DT position but I really want to see him take a roster spot there at least as a backup. Pressley looks like he's getting better there so I certainly wont argue that DP belongs there. I think that Young and Jones in the secondary are in danger of losing their job so maybe Woods or another O-lineman make the 53.

I actually liked that the Saints brought in Ramsey at QB last month. He has shown flashes of a good/talented QB in the past but I don't see him as the 2nd string QB and wonder if the Saints will keep three QB's on the roster. Lance Moore will be the 3rd stringer.

The thing I like about Betts is his reputation as a great pass-protector/blocker, a solid short yardage guy and a hard worker with a great team first attitude.

He may only have a year or two left in the tank, but if he's fully recovered from his injury, he's our 3rd best back hands down, and probably our best RB if we're trying to run out the clock on someone.
