METAIRIE – The New Orleans Saints are pretty boring Super Bowl champions, and that’s a good thing.

Training camp has come and gone and all the Saints did for 22 days was prepare themselves to defend their NFL title.

They didn’t have a diva who couldn’t decide if he wanted to play quarterback or play Prince Hamlet (as the Vikings did).

Tuesday practice quotes
Notebook: Special teams works overtime
They didn’t have an overpaid defensive lineman who couldn’t pass a conditioning test for several days and then after he passed it, claimed to have a physical ailment that his coach said he knew nothing about (as the Redskins did).

They didn’t have a pair of blowhard wide receivers who spent more time on self-indulgent tweeting than they did scoring touchdowns (as the Bengals did).

They didn’t have a rookie who bucked NFL tradition by refusing to carry veterans’ equipment (as the Cowboys did).

No, the Super Bowl XLIV champions had all their players in camp on day one, in shape, focused on their work, and respectful of each other. Ho-hum.

This article really hit home. I love the way we've gotten down to business.

No mention of the Derelle Revis holdout? Stuff like that burns my beans just as bad as what Favre does every year.

Quiet preseason works perfectly for New Orleans Saints

"The silliness and hyperbole that tend to dominate the national headlines during the offseason and training camp are usually linked to attention whores and big-market franchises that are located in the Northeast or who have otherwise fascinated ESPN.

Even as Super Bowl champions, neither the Saints franchise nor any of their players have attained that status. Let’s hope they never do."

Les East must read this board.
We've been saying this for a long time.

Thankful we didn't make bad decisions this offseason, mainly trading for Fat Albert when it looked like it was on the table. Somebody did their homework on that one. Also, we didn't overpay Sharper and PT. Love em', but their success was more than not due to exceptional play of others. Bush I say is worth every penny because he can do almost anything good. I'm willing to bet he'd be a decent QB in a pinch. There just aren't any other players out there that can match him across the board.
