payroll question

Hi all, fairly new member, don't post much.

My question is about payroll. I read that we had the 4th highest payroll in the league last year, at 122 milllion. My question is, how is this calculated? Is it the total amount payed that year plus any future prorated signing bonuses committed to in contracts signed that year? I have wondered this since the year Daniel Snyder tried to buy a championship with a 100 million dollar payroll, how exactly your payroll can be higher than the salary cap. Can anybody explain this to me?

Thanks in advance.

I know it would be base salaries, but the rest I'm not positive about. I think the signing bonuses would be prorated over the contract length, so that it only counts to the cap the first year, but as far as payroll concerns it's probably figured in per year.

Welcome Cash.

As for you question. Which is a very good one. I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. I have to let my wife balance our check book. Great question though!

Thanks for the welcomes.

I actually did a little bit more research just now and found that the cap was actually 128 million last year, so I guess that explains it for us, but I am still wondering about that 'Skins team.

Whodat, Twodat, Go Saints!
