Vilma

im kinda freaking out about his injury. i know they are saying he'll be back for week 1 but im still freaking out. he plays with the most balls on our D and if he were to be out we would take a huge hit. someone make me feel better:bng:

Pete 08-31-2010 09:35 AM

I'm with you on this one Speedy

homerj07 08-31-2010 10:45 AM

Did anyone get fined for the clothsline tackle??

AsylumGuido 08-31-2010 10:52 AM

From his facebook page ...

Jonathan Vilma happy i'm back home, got all good news from the doc. now its time to get right!!

That was 13 hours ago.

Pete 08-31-2010 11:01 AM

Thanks Guido

MatthewT 08-31-2010 06:55 PM

Vilma is a tough dude, I am sure he will be ready for week 1 and play exceptionally well. If not, at least Marvin Mitchell has been in the system for a few years and should be able to at least hold his own.

breesfan27 09-01-2010 02:16 AM

I follow him on facebook/twitter, he says he's certain he will be active September 9th. I'm maybe 5% worried he won't be 100% healthy, but I'm staying optimistic.

Pete 09-01-2010 02:30 AM

What's a new season opener without a little nervousness right..I can't wait

AsylumGuido 09-01-2010 09:10 AM

Facebook entry from 26 minutes ago ...

Jonathan Vilma Been getting treatment since 630am?!?...its Literally an all day affair getting back to 100%

73Saint 09-01-2010 09:23 AM

I'm not trying to be overly pessimistic, but regardless of what they are saying, it seems like groin injuries are usually nagging, long-term injuries. I hope it's not the case here, but we need Vilma at 100% throughout the season.

I can just see him being the type of guy who would suck it up and play at 75-80 percent all year, never properly healing. Again, I hope I am wrong but it makes me nervous as hell.

AsylumGuido 09-01-2010 09:37 AM

Payton will not play him at less than 100%. He has proven that many times in the past.

Rugby Saint II 09-01-2010 10:18 AM

Vilma will be fine. Just a hunch.

homerj07 09-01-2010 10:20 AM

I hope so we need him!!

If memory serves me right, Shockey played at less than 100% for quite a bit the season before last....Groin issues too.

darstep 09-01-2010 12:52 PM

Groins are easily re-aggrivated. I'd rather have him sit out until that thing is completely healed. In for two, then sit for two, could make the defense look real raggedy. Even if we take a hit early, it would be to our benefit to have a healthy Vilma down the stretch.

AsylumGuido 09-02-2010 12:02 AM

Latest from JV ...

Jonathan Vilma a lil update....your boy is doing well rehabbing and taking it one day at a time. can't rush it though,, i want to be there sept 9th!!

st thomas 09-02-2010 12:12 AM

they said it was'nt the type that needed surgery. i know any groin injury is'nt any good but this type has to let payton and the staff breathe a little easier. it will take a bit of rehabing but a week off will do wonders in the football world; trust me.

strato 09-02-2010 09:33 AM

You can think that ass from SD...Dumbrowski...

saintsfan1976 09-02-2010 09:37 AM

Don't know about you guys, but this injury to Vilma scares me. Just seeing his reaction and knowing the history of past groin injuries with this team... It could be bad news for Mr. Vilma.

My fingers are crossed - which makes it harder to drink beer.

you just tried it ;)

QBREES9 09-02-2010 10:28 AM

Wasn't that Joe Horn problem, Groin

homerj07 09-02-2010 10:31 AM

There have been a lot of players who suffer from "groin" problems.

It only makes sense - Some of those hits & bends & twists these guys make would crack me into several pieces, each one floppen around on the field!!

AsylumGuido 09-02-2010 11:14 AM

There is a difference between chronic groin problems and an isolated groin injury. Vilma has no history of groin problems and there is no reason to think that he should have any.

Nope. Chronic problems are just that. Chronic. That means they occurred in college. It means they occurred in high school. Relax. Take a deep breath.

:bng:

73Saint 09-02-2010 03:26 PM

I hope you are right Guido. Sounds good to me anyway.

AsylumGuido 09-02-2010 03:33 PM

I think you're one of the few fans who appreciates what it must be like to be a player.

Cruize 09-03-2010 09:07 AM

Peterson will run wild and the TE's and RB's of the Vikings will be wide open without Vilma in the lineup.

AsylumGuido 09-03-2010 11:36 AM

About one minute ago on FB ...

Jonathan Vilma Gameweek baby!!! Playtime's over, time to go to work!!

Choupique 09-03-2010 11:37 AM

Did you watch the preseason games? Mitchell and the rest of the LB's, Vilma not included, are horrible in coverage. Vilma is as important to the defense as Brees is to the offense. If you don't see that, you don't know football. And, only a child or a punk would question anyone's Saints loyalty or fandom on this board.
