Delhomme loses in that stat that matters most -- Wins and losses. Right?

Delhomme Loses Game 37-17

Yep, he lost. to the same team that beat the tar out of us.
Still 362 yards, 2 tds and no ints is a pretty good performance for anyone. I won\'t knock Jake for losing to McNair when the Titans D can shut down nearly anyone\'s running game.

Delhomme Loses Game 37-17

Jake got most of his yardage in the second half after the Titans starting playing a prevent defense. Meaningless stats!!

Well Billy why don\'t you recognize this when we say the same the about Brooks?
I can see what you are trying to argue but it\'s a weak argument give it up.

Now why can\'t I use the same \"crazy\" logic everyone else does?

because you completely disagree with it when it is brought up about Aaron Brooks, and now use it on Delhomme. It is the truth if a QB is playing from behind and the defense goes prevent, the numbers do inflate the performance. You know this whether you admit it or not. That and the the tone of your post is extremely condescending. Again your just picking a fight.

Then please post this kind of thing about Delhomme so I want have to skippy.

I didn\'t watch Delhomme play so how do I know what happened. I didn\'t know his stats until someone posted them. If that is how it went down then yeah his numbers probably do inflate his performance.

Well, considering they lost 38-17 that might be a clue for you?

And what are you saying. In the \"wins and losses column\" how good did Mr. Brooks fare against the Titans. Man just give it up. I\'m not even going to waste my breath debating this with you.

Seraph, He just likes to start arguements. Leave him alone and everything will be fine. As long as you praise Aaron as a God you\'ll be ok. One game doesn\'t make him great, just like one game doesn\'t make him crap. Show me more than one game against a terrible team and we\'ll see.

The Titans did what teams have to do to beat Carolina...take away their offense, which means take away their running game. If we can do that it\'s not likely that \'ol Jake will beat us with his arm, but if we can\'t, Delhomme will throw those little dink and dunk passes all day long. Our D line and linebackers really need to bow up next Sunday.

Titans hand Panthers their first loss in 37-17 blowout
By Jenna Fryer, The Associated Press
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers hardly expected to go 16-0. They just acted like it. One example: Defensive tackle Kris Jenkins showed up for Sunday\'s game against Tennessee wearing a jersey from the Miami Dolphins\' perfect 1972 season. (Related item: Box score)

The Titans had other ideas, jumping out to a 20-0 lead and converting four fumbles into scores while handing the Panthers their first loss of the season, 37-17 Sunday.

\"I had no visions of going undefeated,\" Carolina coach John Fox said. \"But I didn\'t want to lose a game like that.\"

The Panthers (5-1) fumbled away the opening kickoff, leading to Steve McNair\'s rushing touchdown. Then the Titans (5-2) padded their lead to 14-0 and grabbed momentum with a 50-yard pass from Billy Volek to Eddie Berlin on a fake punt.

Keith Bullock later scored on a 35-yard fumble recovery, and Gary Anderson added field goals of 32, 34 and 40 yards for the Titans.

\"We wanted to score first and see if they could come from behind,\" McNair said. \"They couldn\'t.\"

Not with all of the Panthers\' mistakes. They found themselves playing to a chorus of boos before halftime.

And the game exposed many of Carolina\'s weaknesses.

The Panthers\' vaunted defense struggled to stop the pass, allowing McNair to go 12-of-22 for 190 yards, including a 22-yard touchdown pass to Drew Bennett. It also had difficulty containing a mobile quarterback: McNair scrambled for 30 yards, with a 7-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.

\"He\'s tough when he\'s scrambling around. You\'ve got to make him stay in the pocket,\" safety Mike Minter said. \"We couldn\'t do that and it cost us because he makes too many plays.\"

Also glaringly evident is that when Carolina\'s running game doesn\'t work — and it never did against Tennessee — the Panthers have little to fall back on.

Stephen Davis, who entered the game with 641 yards rushing and four 100-yard games, was held to just 20 yards on 11 carries. Carolina, which came in averaging 172 yards on the ground, finished with 44.

\"We wanted to come in and stop their run and make them try to throw the ball,\" defensive end Jevon Kearse said. \"Then we wanted to knock Jake Delhomme out of the game and get some of (backup) Rodney Peete.\"

The Titans never knocked Delhomme out, but they forced him to abandon the running game and try to pass the ball. It was next to impossible against Tennessee\'s stifling defense, which sacked him four times.

Although Delhomme finished with two touchdown passes and a career-high 362 yards, much of it came long after the outcome was decided. His 67-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith in the fourth quarter made it 30-10.

\"We have to be able to run the football,\" Delhomme said. \"We\'re not a team that wants to throw it.\"
DeShaun Foster had Carolina\'s final fumble, which Bullock scooped up and returned for a 37-10 lead with eight minutes left.

It was Tennessee\'s first victory this season against a team with a winning record. The Titans did it by taking advantage of miscues right from the start.

Carolina\'s Brad Hoover fumbled away the opening kickoff, and Tennessee recovered at the Panthers 30. McNair got the Titans rolling with a 21-yard pass to Bennett, then ran the ball in to make it 7-0 a little more than two minutes into the game.

Carolina went three-and-out on its next possession. But at least the Panthers then forced the Titans to punt — or so it seemed. Instead, backup quarterback Volek took the snap and tossed a perfect pass to Berlin, who ran down the sideline for a 14-0 lead after fewer than seven minutes.

The Titans never let up, and when McNair threw a 22-yard TD pass to Bennett 11 seconds before halftime, the score was 27-3, and the home fans were jeering the Panthers.

\"We wanted to get up on them right off the bat and have them kind of thinking what hit them,\" Bennett said. \"And then we just kept piling on in the first half. They always talk about Carolina being a second-half team, but we came out already out of reach.\"

Notes: Jenkins wouldn\'t talk about his Dolphins\' jersey — or McNair\'s play — after the game. ... The Panthers hadn\'t allowed a team to score in the first quarter this season. ... Robert Holcombe led the Titans with 53 yards rushing on 16 carries. Eddie George finished with 51 yards. ... Carolina receiver Steve Smith had a career-high 151 yards on 10 catches. ... The Panthers had three sacks, snapping a two-game drought.

Well, I have to be careful. I\'ve almost been voted off once, quit once, and now I must pick and choose very carefully... JoeSam has me a bit gun shy -- :)

Shows you how awesome Deuce is. We\'ve been behind most of the year and he still puts up impressive stats.
He could have had 200 yards in that game if we didn\'t put Ki-Jana Carter in.

Here\'s the deal with the Carolina Defense. They sell out stopping the run and rushing the passer. They must do this because their secondary is SLOW. To have any chance at stopping the passing game, Carolina\'s defense must get pressure on the QB. Now, they have been very successful doing this, but it is starting to catch up with them. There defense is ranked way down there because they have given up yardage BIG TIME in the passing game.

There are some things I feel we can do to take advantage of Carolina\'s agressive defense:

1. Let Brooks run. They had lots of trouble with McNair running.

2. We need to somehow get the screen pass going. Why we can\'t do this, I don\'t know, but it would really help slow the blitz.

3. Spread the field with 4 and 5 receivers. This instantly creates them problems. They just do not have the guys in their secondary to hang with our receivers.

Pthppppppttttttt!

Please! This place has me shaking my head every single day. I could easily choke on all the bad grammar, liken to the time I choked on George\'s momma (Now, I could have left this last statement open ended, thus allowing young George to come back with another brilliant statement about one of his three favorite topics- the parental figure. However, I decided to up the anty and play that card)

Damn -- What do you want? Even Michael Jordan has a bad game every once in a while. If some of these other guys would pick up the slack, I might be able to get away with some stuff in here every once in a while.

\"Delhomme loses in that stat that matters most -- Wins and losses. Right?\"

Hhhmmm. I don\'t normally get dragged into these anymore, but I haven\'t had much fun with Billy recently, so...

what you\'re saying is that Delhomme, at 5-1, is a better QB than Brooks is at 3-4. I\'ll buy that - he is. Further, if DELHOMME lost that game, then Brooks should be benched b/c who cares about poor defensive play or dropped passes. The QB does it himself right Billy? That\'s what you would have us believe - BROOKS scored 27 TDs and threw for all those yards last year right? The TEAM had nothing to do with that. By the way, how does Brooks rank in those stats this season?

Delhomme threw for 362 yards and two scores (0 INTs) despite the fact that the Titans were daring him to make plays. The Titans took away the Panthers\' strength - Stephen Davis. They did the same to us by taking away Deuce. Brooks really stepped it up in that game throwing for 185 yards and one touchdown. Quite literally, Delhomme played TWICE as well in the SAME situation, with LESS talent than Brooks. Where ya at William?

WhoDat -- First of all -- I don\'t think that wins and losses are ALL on the QB. That was you and others posting that garbage. Look WhoDat -- You know the how this game of football works. The QB get\'s all the blame and all the glory, but they don\'t deserve either one most of the time.

What do you mean Jake has no talent on offense. Steve Smith is a probowl receivers. Stephen Smith is a probowl running back. Mussin Muhhamad is a very good receiver also. And let\'s not forget that the Panthers have one of the best, if not the best, offensive line in the league. What they are missing is a QB like Aaron Brooks. Where ya at Dat? :o

I don\'t have to come back with anything. You talked about the Panthers - not Brooks or Delhomme. The numbers speak for themselves. Delhomme was twice the QB in his game against the Titans with a less \"explosive\" (is that word better for you Billy?) team than Brooks was. Delhomme is better.

But it is nice to see that you two still avoid the topic and talk about the person, not the subject at hand. ;) Tisk, tisk. Hey Saintfan, I think I\'ll quote you here. \"EXPOSED!\"
