McCarthy's Game Plan.

I'm really pissed at McCarthy. Everyone has been calling for McCarthy to open this offense up. Well, it takes game #6 and he comes out in 3 and 4 receiver sets at the beginning of the game and BAM we score on our first drive and almost every drive in the first half.

I give credit to McCarthy for a great game plan today but what the hell took so long. This is the samething we need to do against Carolina. Once we were successful in the throwing game, the Falcons defense couldn't keep the 8th man in the box and it really cleared the way for Deuce.

Keep it going Mike!!

No Billy , it took playing the 32 ranked defense in the N.F.L.

I don\'t care if we were playing blind men out there. The offense looked great. I don\'t expect you to give any credit 08. None at all....

That\'s alright Billy , you can pump Brooks all you want for shredding the worst defense in the N.F.L.

I will wait til he shreds a top 5 defense before I say he did a great job .

It only took the worst defense in the league to get him to play to his potential .

While I do believe very strongly that you are a hypocrite, your arguement does hold some truth. I would also like to see Brooks shred a top 5 defense. But when Peyton Manning shreded our terrible secondary, you were quick to point out the fine game he had. It is these kind of things that make your posts, while comical, lacking of any real substance.

I like conversing with some of you \"Brooks Bashers\", but not because I think you will ever change your minds about Brooks, but just to see how far you guys will go with your attempts to bash the guy.

I might be alone in my belief that you discredit yourself with posts like the one\'s you just made, but I always like to think for myself and not let other folks tell me what to think. Of course, you have your \"Brooks Bashing\" buddies that will agree with you on every comment that you make about Brooks. So, I guess that makes it true>>> Expcept with me, because I can think for myself and I\'m sure others see through you just as I do.

You are.

Aside from the usual BS that is argued around here, today\'s game was the first I\'ve enjoyed watching this year. The score could have been close and it wouldn\'t have mattered, they kept the fingernails off the chalkboard by not turning over the ball and creating costly penalties. Let\'s build some momentum heading into next weeks pivotal game against Carolina.

I agree BnB. Mistake free football... almost. The D still worries me. I mean, they allow a 70 yard TD run on the second play from scrimmage. Not good - especially if you\'re not playing the Birds. Then, I don\'t know if anyone else noticed, but BOTH of Atlanta\'s other scoring drives were kept alive by D linemen jumping offsides on third and short. Stupid!

Our defense continues to worry the hell out of me. Our secondary can\'t make plays (see more dropped INTs than our receivers have dropped passes), our linebackers seem average, and the D line seems to play one great play followed by one terrible one. Stephen Davis could have another field day against us next week.

However, the O finally looked great. Brooks was crisp, on target, made good reads, had great escapability, and did everything that could be asked of him. Deuce continues to just make my jaw drop. Anyone catch that play where an Atlanta blitzer was in the backfield before he took the handoff? He side stepped the guy and turn what would have been a big loss for 90 percent of the backs in the league into a 12 yard gain. The guy is unreal. Strong, fast, shifty, smart, great hands, and most importantly (to me at least), professional. If he stays with the Saints he may end up being the best player in Saints history. The guy just gets the job done - lots of time by himself.

Finally, to get back on to the topic of this thread, I was simply happy to see McCarthy finally get it. Let\'s hope this wasn\'t a one game thing, and that it continues next week. My only comment - let\'s trying running out of three and four receiver formations when the field is spread rather than only those times when we have a TE and FB in the game. Otherwise, say what you will, but you\'re not a Saints fan if a 45-17 drumming of the Falcons isn\'t enough to make you happy - no matter how bad the birds or Saints may be.

Billy ,

Only you would consider points being made about an offense playing against the worst defense in the league , lacking of any real substance . You are certainly someone to laugh at .

McCarthy's Game Plan.

Atlanta has lost six in a row since a season-opening victory at Dallas, a game that seems about a million years ago. And the Falcons aren\'t just losing -- they\'re getting embarrassed. During the losing streak, they have surrendered a staggering 34.5 points a game.

The defense is ranked last in the NFL, allowing nearly 402 yards per game. The offense is almost as bad. The Falcons have converted an NFL-low 23.2 percent of their third downs and have committed 12 turnovers.

Did you also notice that he was quicker in his decision making than I have seen him all year. He was quick to abandon the pass and opt for the run. He was quicker in choosing his targets. This is very good, people, regardless of what defense was playing.

Like I said, there is some truth to what you are saying. Sure the Falcons are a bad team. But we beat them the way we are supposed to beat a bad team. What more would you like Brooks and company to do? They could have probably put up 60 pts. on them if they wanted to. If you are not pleased with the way Brooks and this offense played, regardless of who they played, then you will never be happy.

Saintz08 is merely doing what he\'s always done Billy. Find humor in the man...don\'t let him get to you. It\'s the same \'ol same \'ol from the guy. He posts positively and will make excuses for ANYONE as long as their name isn\'t Aaron Brooks. He\'s mad because Brooks was brought in here and his boy Delhomme couldn\'t beat him out in training camp. Brooks\' play on the field, whether he\'s having a good game or a bad one, has nothing to do with 08\'s posts. If it did he\'d have very little to say. He has always refused to see any other issue with this team. He refuses to acknowledge poor line play or play calling or dropped passes etc etc. 08 knows full well that this teams problems go way beyond the QB, but he\'s hurt because Delhomme isn\'t here and rather than admit that Jake just doesn\'t have the tools Brooks has, he dreams up a conspiriacy theory. Picture if you will an old man who\'s wife left him and he has nothing left to live for, so he just sits there getting more and more bitter making less and less sense day by day.

Ahh there is Saintsfan ,

Chicken - tastes like chicken .

Second touchdown - Horn to the right , the pass was symphonic . Notice how Horns hands even went up in rythmm to gentle craddle the inbound ball. If the ref had called it out of bounds I would have still eaten crow . Brooks grip was a little weak , but the pass was a beauty .

A man of my word unlike some others around here , I said I would admit if he ever threw a perfect pass , Brooks did .

Oh yes, they had some mistakes still, but (and that\'s a very big but, like Jennifer Lopez big) it did NOT become the focal point of the game like it has every week.

Well well...it\'s not the first one he\'s thrown 08...one of many, but it\'s nice to see you acknowledge at least one of \'em.

Oh, by the way, I found this quote in an article written by AP Sports Writer Jenna Fryer -- ``We have to be able to run the football,\'\' Delhomme said. ``We\'re not a team that wants to throw it.\'\'

Now, I wonder why they\'re \"not a team that wants to throw it.\"? Could this in any way stretch back to having something to do with why Jake was never able to crack the starting lineup in New Orleans even BEFORE Aaron Brooks or Jim Hazlett?

Saintfan - have you started a WhoDat quote of the week plan or what? You signature keeps changing and surprise, surprise, it\'s always me. ;)

Well, if you\'re going to quote someone on this board, I guess I am the best person to quote. Intelligent, articulate, realistic, alway right-on with my posts, dashing in a Cary Grant kind of way.... HA HA HA. LMAO.

You should consider it an honor Whodat. You\'re the first guy on this board who really pizzed me off ya know? I\'d quote 08 but that\'d be like...well, how \'bout I just don\'t go there. I\'d never give swampdog the pleasure.

Besides, the \"as usual I disagree\" line and the \"kumbaya\" line and the latest \"optimist\" were just too good to pass up. I was gonna quote ya on the turd line, but somebody beat me to it...damn the luck anyway!
